That was the worst first half of football I have seen from a professional football team. Bizarre team selection. Smyth who hasn’t had any pre Season. Kelman who is awful. Chair out wide when he is better playing central. 1.5 midfielders leaving us totally outnumbered. No press at all and allowing Watford the ball totally unchallenged into our own half. I understand that our centre backs are out but we were unforgivably bad all the way through the team. I have absolutely no idea what the game plan was. Only positive was that Duke McKenna and Armstrong bothered running around a bit when they came on.
Another positive: we were worried about Begovic being rusty.... he's going to get plenty of practice, very quickly.
Made one great save second half and was quite good overall. Distribution wasn’t great but I’m not sure if that was just Dykes being so isolated.
And I agree with you, but he can't bring in any players that are leaders or of any quality cos he's got **** all to spend. So what's the solution, it would be the same for any other manager who comes in. We're stuck with turd on and off tge field !
Thanks for posting, I think. A few of their goals were very soft and Begovic really could have done better.
I disagree. A better coach would at least organise us and the players would at least want to play for him. I have a mate who's a Watford season ticket holder who was there today. He said that we we the worst looking side tactically he's ever seen. He said it was clear that the players weren't playing for him. He's simply inept.
I think it was Paul Barron in goal who gave us the finger when we started singing “We want 8”……charming
This team have zero respect for Gareth, he’s had the whole summer but there’s no team spirit. They’re no tactics and the players we’ve bought in aren’t anywhere near championship level. Other teams on tight budgets and limited resources get a team together. We’ll be in L2 before we know it.
GA set up with a back 6 out of possession with zero pressing from the other 4, and didn't change this when we were being played through for fun. That's nothing to do with money that's **** management
Again if I remember correctly, wasn’t it Les Ferdinands first appearance as a sub ? Might be wrong on that on though as I was pretty pissed and ended up head butting someone from our LSA coach….accidentally of course
Not sure about Les, but I remember that my frozen feet started to regain feeling somewhere south of Birmingham.
The least I thought ainsworth would bring is organisation, spirit and fight...he hasn't done that and I too can't help but think the players see him as some kind of joke...all joking aside that was absolutely shocking
