With Sadiq now offering £2,000 of London taxpayers’ money to people to trade in their non compliant cars, surely the price of compliant second-hand cars will rise by £2,000. Since he claims that 90 per cent of vehicles are already complaint, this ULEZ does only seem to be targeted at the poorest 10 per cent who cannot afford new-ish vehicles. If everyone then gets rid of the nasty 10 per cent of vehicles that are choking London’s children to death (before some drug smuggling Muslim can stab them) surely that means that ULEZ revenues will drop to zero and it will be costing London taxpayers a fortune a year to run a pointless stealth tax on motorists. They really are as thick as sh*t in London if they cannot figure out that Khan is taking them for a virtue signalling ride. If Khan is really such a green champion then why is he not offering £25,000 to people to buy EVs? If he was then everyone could go outside the London area with the readies and buy a clapped out 2015 Ford Ka with 200,000 miles on the clock for £1,000 and trouser the difference. Of course this would then leave lots of abandoned old motors dumped all over London for Sadiq to clear away, probably after most of them had been torched for insurance claims. The streets of Hackney and Tower Hamlets would be burning. The £2,000 is actually an extension to an existing scrappage scheme so you have to get rid of your un-complaint old banger first; but that scheme used to only be available to the disabled, people on low incomes and child benefit recipients. He is giving £21,000 to sole traders and small businesses to get rid of their old vans. I think that London simpletons would wake up to the fact that they were being duped by an incompetent Labour Mayor if he were to offer £25,000 to people to scrap ICE cars to buy EVs; however, in the real world outside of Londanistan, the same situation exists. EVs are unaffordable for the vast majority and without the billions of infrastructure spending required (money that all parties seem to be conjuring up from the Magic Money Tree) they are totally impractical. It does not matter whereabouts in this country you are living: any politician talking about the green economy is a total lying fantasist that never answers the questions about how this is all going to be paid for when we are talking about hundreds of billions of investment that is not going to happen overnight.
