Saints have exactly the same problem in not knowing who will still be with them at the end of the month. You just get on with it and try and win your games.
So the logic would be just play your best team. Soton left Lavia a 40m target for the scousers on the bench.
After watching tonights match I'd say Southampton are almost certain to be Top 3 and Sheff Wed will struggle to stay in the division.
Saints were very good 1st half. 2nd half Wednesday pushed further up the field and Southampton looked lost for large parts of it. Loads of possession but didn't do too much with it 2nd half. If they keep that side all season then yes, they'll be up there. I'm not sure they'll keep everyone though. Wednesday will figure out that they need to go long and be as physical as they can. I'd be surprised if they go down but they won't trouble the top half either.
9 mins of added time (2nd half) and Saints only gave the ball away twice which was brilliant game management. Whereas your super duper Wednesday back four were all in a line as Che Adams dropped of a yard to slot home the winner.
Back on the Saudi issue maybe we should expect the likes of Henderson to keep his mouth shut on gay rights and trans rights now. How about the likes of Neville and Lineker who keep quiet about beheadings, women having no rights. These soccer stars love to virtue signal but still take the cash. Henderson promoting rainbow laces FFS then on a plane to the Gulf ahaha.
I watched last nights game mate, and I thought out of our available players tomorrow, would Cresswell, Ampadu, Sinisterra, James, Summerville and Gnonto walk into either team, the answer for me was yes. Now I add Archie Gray who I believe will shine, Darlow in goal, that’s 8 positions out of 11 where I believe we have an outstanding quality of player at this level. I’m confident of a win tomorrow, we have players to come back and I’d be concerned of the 49ers intentions if we hadn’t brought in the backroom staff that we have, but I believe we intend on signing new players. There is a plan, Farke is aware of it because he said expect arrivals towards the end of the window which suggests raiding PL teams for a few without squad numbers. I’m the first to jump onboard the negative Norris bus when I believe things are bad, I’m not pretending they’re great at the moment but fortunately we have a decent backroom setup, finances are sound and we’ve still got some excellent players
All this talk of the back room setup, I’ve been trying to put my finger on it and I’ve finally sussed it. You’ve got a job with the 49ers haven’t you. Clearly part of their brand new P.R. department. You’ve been hired to infiltrate this forum. Who next I ask. Surely not Matt or Doc. You won’t fool Eire, I’m onto you. Wouldn’t be surprised if you had a big part in getting Jesse out the door too
There are just too many factors involved in our squad right now, so cannot be optimistic yet. Its going to be the end of the month before we know and by then we could already be miles off the top. Eire usually says wait ten games but this season I think we will know in 5 how things will work out. Firpo, Cooper, Struijk, Hjelde, Gnonto, Sinisterra, Summerville, Drameh, Adams, Rutter, Bamford, Meslier. There are 12 players there and we have no idea how many of them will be gone. Talk of FARKE not prioritising a striker because he thinks we have enough? If true that worries me a lot. He surely cannot rely on Bamford who hasn’t been fit for 2 seasons and looks like a 3rd now. We dont have the option of a target man, but yes we have a lot of skill and flair players in and around the box but we haven’t scored enough goals for the last 2 seasons. The inbound players so far have been top quality and any of the above players leaving need replacing with better. We still don’t know if FARKE is being backed in the market do we?
