    In the season before last, Jack was probably our best central defender before he got injured (at City IIRC?). He never got a chance to get back in after that.

    Last year I think Ralph didn't rate him (probably because he didn't suit the high press), so he was loaned out to Bompey. I like Jack, always seem assured on the ball and him & Bedders are a good strong team in the middle.

    Good news IMO.

    Great news. Been a critic of Jack in the past but thought he could a job for us from 12-18 months ago and earned my respect

    Defo captain by September.

    Sounds like Stephens is the vice-captain now. Rightly so, and will probably step up if JWP leaves.

    I’ve always liked him.

    I assume he fell out with Ralph or something because he should 100% have been here last season.

    Let’s hope the Cornish Maldini replacing JWP as captain is as successful as the Italian one replacing Franco Baresi at Milan.
