Yeah I see that side of it too. Nobody knows what he thinks though, which is ultimately the most important thing. I still think the most likely outcome is that he gives it the final year and goes on a free.
Agreed. Although something I was mulling over the other day is how beneficial it was to Sanchez to "learn" from one of the best defensive partnerships in the league's history. He is very much a confidence player, so maybe one of the reasons he flunked so badly is because the bar he was expected to reach was just too high, too soon. The bar is much, much lower now - perhaps Micky will enjoy more time and patience to learn as he goes.
He flirted with City in 2021 and he hasn’t signed a new deal so far with 12 months remaining… I think we all know essentially what he thinks and feels. He’s too nice of a bloke to force it but I think he wants the move. Preferably now but he’ll wait a year if not and see what’s available to him then.
Oh we know he’s interested in leaving that’s not up for debate. I meant how he views jumping straight away to Germany vs winning something in England with Spurs (unlikely) or another club if he went there on a free next year (more likely).
Realistically where would he go in England though? Chelsea have Nkunku, City have Haaland who I think will be there for at least another 2 years, and United just stupidly bought Poundland Haaland for almost as much as they could've got Kane for. One of the dumbest moves I've ever seen but there you have it. If Hojlund flops as many are predicting, United might be an option next summer but otherwise I'm not sure. I'm surprised Real didn't make more of an effort for him, especially considering the similarities in his game with Benzema. But they seem fixated on Mbappe. I can see him doing very well at Bayern and with him up front I don't think the CL is as far away from them as some think.
Chelsea, god forbid, as Nkunku isn’t an out and out striker. Jackson has looked handy in preseason I believe but Kane is a step up and let’s not mention the Poch factor. United I agree with your assessment, I think their new man might be a slow burner so the attraction of Kane on a free is obvious. I’m sure City would take him on a free too, why not. He’ll have ample opportunity to keep scoring there, Pep rotates a lot. Newcastle have bags of money and are going to start winning pots at some point in the next couple of years too, and I think their style of play suits him.
Don't think kane goes to Chelsea or Arsenal personally. Think he is too concerned about being a spurs legend and going to either of those would burn that to the ground
No: The Sheikh Mansour Team found a way to let another kid have one of their toys without letting them play with it
Interesting comment from Arnesen about Levy in an Athletic article about how to value players. "But you also have clubs where there are owners who are very hands-on and they want to do the negotiations, like Tottenham. Daniel (Levy, the chairman) does it himself and is very good at it. But he has no understanding about the football game and doesn’t interfere if you want a left-back or a right winger. He trusts his manager and the sporting director to do that work.”
There are many cases where that would be true but I think football isn't one of them...I think the complexity is too great to allow data analysis without modelling but I am a few years out of date on big data handling so I may be wrong. The data is as follows....for every match you have goal times, numbers of shots on targets etc and myriad data on individual players....passes, assists, goals, duels won, tackles, blocks, interceptions, heat maps etc. In principle you can work out which player properties contribute most to points gained at team level and therefore which players are most valuable now. However to make this work for transfers you have to try to work out which players will improve from their current levels and are therefore bargains. This is also possible in principle by looking for historical patterns in top players performance (eg perhaps players who are going to improve have lower (or higher) scatter on performance or perhaps they do better against good (or bad) teams or play better in the first (or second half). Who knows...but I suspect you need a way to select which performance measures matter for each position to make this tractable.
Nonononononononono - he interferes in everything and that's why we haven't signed the second coming of the 1970 Brazil team!
From a large chunk of our fans Chelsea is as big a rival as the goons... personally it gets no where near that for me
