As far as I see it, the faint glimmer of optimism is that I'm convinced our interest in Tapsoba is directly and proportionately linked to Kane's future. I can see us doing the Micky deal regardless, and yes - in an ideal world where we're actually showing ambition and backing our manager properly we'd sign both players regardless - but we both know that isn't how Levy works.

If Kane goes, I think the bulk of the funds will be split between Tapsoba and a new striker or versatile attacker. If he stays, Tapsoba stays too.

It's really as simple as that imho.

And allow these youngsters the good grace to learn on the job and make mistakes as they go along.

It beggars belief that the likes of Rodon and Tanganga were effectively banished after one or two bad games, while the likes of Sanchez and Dier are given chance after chance to outdo their own impressive levels of incompetence.

From what I have seen, albeit on Youtube compilations, Tapsoba looks more ready for the PL than Van Der Ven, but until they arrive you can not say either way. Ideally we should be signing both to overhaul at CB, strength in depth is key, injuries or suspensions and you are right back where you started.

Apparently he's being lined up for a stint in the oil fields, although Barca seem to be having trouble offloading their deadwood in that direction - unlike the oil barons of the Premier League...

If Micky is costing over £40m, I'd imagine Tapsoba's asking price will be close to £60m.

If Kane stays put, so does he. It's pretty obvious.

Leverkusen Managing Director Simon Rolfes said a week or so ago that it would take a €50m bid before they'd even think of considering the bid, with the indication that a bid which at least matches the €55m Villa paid for Diaby would start to get the ball rolling

It does seem once again we have a List 1 and a List 2 for CBs dependant on the available cash, so the real question to see which one Leonardo Gabbanini is consulting on is whether we press ahead with Tapsoba or with Adarabioyo - or possibly a season-long stopgap if the plan is to go back for Tapsoba next summer, which would explain Perr Schuurs' names suddenly appearing out of nowhere in the last couple of days

...or our plan is to just look at every CB Saltypool are linked with and try to pounce, given van de ven and Schuurs have both been linked with them in the last few months

Remember a few days ago how it was reported that Harry Kane said that, if his move to Bayern wasn't sorted by the Brentford match, he'd stay?

Well now the Torygraph claim that they've given us to midnight to cave in to their demands

All of a sudden that hissy fit in BILGE the other day is making a lot of sense...

Some reports the final offer on the table is 100m Euros, that’s inclusive of add-ons. That’s a smidge over £86m. So that’s the take it or leave it offer.

My gut instinct is that he’s staying mainly because there’s been nothing about him pushing for a move. It’s one thing agreeing terms, another to call up Levy and say he wants to leave. Everything we’re seeing is that he’s happy to go if the offer is accepted and happy to stay if it isn’t. He holds the cards in that regard after all.

Tbf the Bayern move has always seemed an odd one to me. Sure it’s a massive club and they’ll walk the league with him there but the big prize if you’re going to go to Germany is the CL, which looks a longer shot for them. Plus Harry is a bit of a homebody and he’s never seemed that keen on the move abroad in the past. Half of me suspects he’d have gone for a few years if the offer was accepted but that his camp were seeing if they could smoke out a big bid from United this summer. Then he might have pushed harder to leave.

I think Bayern makes the most sense.

More or less guaranteed a couple trophies and a crack at the CL.

He goes Man Utd and there’s no guarantee of trophies and almost a certainty of no legit chance of winning the CL.

At the stage he’s in his career, I think he wants a league title or two on his CV and I don’t blame him either, he’s one of the few players that genuinely deserve as such.

Got the here we go for van de Ven.
If he’s flying in the next 24 hours, good chance he’ll be presented at the Shakhtar game barring any hiccups.

GFFN has tossed PSG's name into the ring for Harry Kane (again)

No mention of PSG imposing a deadline to make it look like they didn't flounce off yet, though...

I still think that (outside of the CL) any trophy with Spurs eclipses anything Bayern can offer him. Both in terms of what it would mean for Kane’s public perception and probably what it would mean for the player. Especially if he lifted it as captain. Going to Bayern and winning the league is like a participation trophy at this point.

The speculation is now that the ‘final’ offer is €120m, which is £103m. Let’s see. If that offer rumour is true it’s a big one to turn down.

That goes without saying but what are realistically our prospects of winning a trophy?

Kane’s in a situation where if he commits to Spurs it’s likely to be his last big contract and if at the end of it he’s still trophyless, then what? He could probably still go to one of the elite at 34/35 but likely to sit on the bench and then win a trophy having not played an overly pivotal role.

World class players like him generally have multiple trophies to their name, the fact he doesn’t have one means I don’t think anyone can blame him for chasing the “easy trophies” he’ll get at Bayern. It completes his CV.

I’m happy to sign the player but also aware that we’re signing a player more for their potential than immediate ability.

He isn’t the finished product and we’re in dire need of a finished product at CB. Van de Ven is more or less in a similar situation to that of what Sanchez was in when we signed him and Sanchez had Toby and Jan to learn from, Van de Ven will have Romero who right now himself still isn’t perfect.
