From what the ITK’s seem to be saying, the contract that was on the table before the second injury was a good one. It should’ve really been sorted last summer thats the main problem I have

The problem is that you can't force any player to agree to a contract ...

... which can make it look like you're not trying hard enough.

Stewart is doing himself no favours imo.

If he becomes seen as someone trying to blackmail a club, that's supported him through two injuries, he won't do his prospects any good. Even Sunderland supporters, who've seen him in action, are starting to turn against him.

His face, during the lap of honour, did it for me tbh.

They were close to what he wanted before the injury, and then reverted their offer after the injury... So I think you can slightly understand why he has not signed.

Wages to turnover is a big thing in the new ffp rules. See the excerpt here

Under the new regulations, clubs will be limited to spending 70% percent of their revenue on wages, transfers and agents' fees.
    When will they start?
UEFA's new rules will come into effect in June but clubs will have three years to implement them.
It is expected that clubs will be allowed to spend 90% of their income in 2023/24 and 80% in 2024/25, before the rules come into full force in 2025/26
    .

We are ahead of the curve based on last year's accounts but with new contracts and not a huge increase in income we will be pushing it.

It why I get so frustrated at the off the field stuff. Literally every penny extra made contributes to the on the field things.

Think it is good to note that TM has not stated that he does not get involved with transfers but he has said that he does not really get involved with contract negotiations which is very different, but I guess there will be some interactions between the two.

TBF I get what you mean but I think like this. We are the club, as owners directors they all come and go and they are only custodians of our club but we the supporters are always there, through thick and thin. so yes the chairman/owner invariably pull the strings and set the hierarchy but the club will always be ours.

If i remember correctly the club or KS said something along the lines of the club do not want to pay transfer fees for any player over the age of 26 or something like that. this means they dont mind bringing in experienced players over that age but will look to get them on a free. everybody seems to think we are only singing young players but over the last few years we have brought in Baath, Pritchard, Evans and now Dack so are we really doing that bad.

This was our promotion season in L1, so last season would’ve been even better for us.

Mowbray appears to be honest and straight talking which I like. I don't think he wants to undermine the club or anyone working there tbh.

I'm sure Mowbray could trip off five players he'd like, without hesitation, but that means nothing. They may not be available, wouldn't come north of Watford, want too much money or would be disruptive in the dressing room.

There are bound to be disagreements just as there are on here ...

... only people who choose to analyse every word and nuance get upset imo.

They're all big boys and I'm sure they don't try to get each other at playtime.

If his attitude is like his old man's then we're best staying well clear.

And wages went up as well, it's all relative.
Then workout 70% of turnover is allowed for wages and even if we turnover £30 million the maximum we can have for wages will be £21 million. Over a 25 man squad that's not a huge amount to be spread around.

Then add in agents fees etc

Quite right, and that's obviously important to the recruitment team ...

... we've signed some talented players who've stunk the place out.

Grigg was clearly better than he was here, just sulked for the entire time.

Worth noting it’s not too long since we opened a championship campaign with this side, we are in a good place

Don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to a season as much as this to be honest. Sunderland was buzzing before the Luton play off game hopefully it’s not long before it’s like that before every game again.

    Tidied and completed.
Not a bad squad to start off 24/25 season before this window ending then January window then the summer seasons window recruitment

Anybody who wants to criticise our recruitment model. Just take a look at this progressive evolving squad.
Intfact. Wake me up because I must be in my pre season dream.
The 65th year in a row I've had similar dreams.

    Enjoy the season
