Looks like the Fred sale to Galatasary may be off as what we were proposing was too complicated they've gone for someone else.

And Van De Beek negotiations with Real Sociedad are still ongoing. Think they want a loan first but we want a straight sell.

If we genuinely need to sell one or both to fund the purchase of anyone else then this aint great.

If that's not the case, then fck them off for whatever price and get them off the wage bill.

As City have proved, FFP is a 'fluid issue' it depends very much on creative accounting and, in theory, we can spend a billion on players - we just have to be able to balance the books in terms of player sales and wages being shed from the books. The truth is we can go for any player on the planet - the reality is that there are legacy issues for the 2024/5 FFP accounts. Chelsea are leading the way in 5/6 year contracts, loaning out players (assets) and writing off loan player wages against tax. Woodward had us fixated on paying for signings in full, up front, probably the only team in the PL to play the market that way. Now, clubs are allowed to spread transfer payments over a max of five years (regardless of the length of the player contract) so other club investments can offset the cost of those outgoings. So, when you read that we are paying £70 million up front for a player - we aren't, we're paying that big number figure over an extended period. Given the cash in hand finances of the club at present we have plenty of money to invest in the right players - this window is by no means finished.

Tbh I wasn't thinking FFP as I agree we've got no issue there.

Our reasons for selling players to buy another (if this is the case) is because of those bastards who own the club and they've stipulated as such, and are holding on to the purse strings.

But if you were the owner and knowing how many players we have, would you keep sanctioning new players without actually getting rid of unwanted players?

I think it’s better for the club to operate a lean squad than a bloated one.

Incredible to think this will be Martial's ninth season at the club, incredible also to see how poor his stats are -

Another good game, another good result having come from behind to an amazing chip to win 3 -1. Pretty much the first team on show, so a good run out for everyone. Garnacho put in another fantastic performance, full of fight, full of energy and always a good end result, Rashford looks lively and Bruno and Casimero were their usual selves, dominating and creating in midfield.. Mount blew hot and cold (again), he missed an absolute sitter, but hopefully he will settle in once the season gets under way. Garnacho MOM by a mile.

That was all about Garnacho. He is so good at terrorizing on that left hand side, and full of energy too. Amazing!!

That miscued shot by Mount though! He really needs to settle into the side quickly!

Maguire is about as much use on the pitch as a ****ing tree stump. Sloppy pass leading to their goal and ever since he has stood like a tree every time he has possession - the man, sadly, is a complete liability. Hopefully ETH will sub him for Evans in the second half.

Just walked into a bar in the middle of nowhere, Rioja.

And it's on the TV! (course it is, we're in the Basque)

Might even watch the second half.

I came on to make that point. It is so disappointing to watch him make errors leading to goals over and over again. It has become of him that every time he gets the ball, you end up holding your breath.

Apparently we have turned down a bid of 60m for both Maguire and McT.

can’t believe we haven’t bitten their hands off.

Exactly, especially as Maguire's wages are burning a big hole in our accounts. Let then both go for a combined £60m, get rid of Fred to Galatasaray and there should be more than enough for the two additional signings.

I read that the club values McTominay at £40m and at least another £30m for Maguire.

I really need to know that Maguire has played his last game for the club. We can't go into the new season with him in the team, he is such a liability that he can undo in an instant all the good work that an otherwise solid defence has done. In Dublin you could sense that he was an accident waiting to happen every time he touched the ball.

In what world is McTominay worth 65m?

If we can get 70m for the pair I’d say that’s good business.

In what world is rice worth what you got for him.

Makes Bellingham for 80 look like a steal.
