SL and NP are not misleading me. With the squad we have I've said mid table all along. I'm not having a go at SL or NP, when you compare our finances with others in the Championship mid table is where I think we'll end up. 9 times out of 10 the clubs with the deepest pockets finish in the top positions of every league. Just the way of the world.
Sorry, misleading wasn’t correct, only those that want to be misled, will be. I know we are on the same page in thinking a top 10 would be great, but really an outside chance, and we will more likely be between 10th-15th, which isn’t bad, we would have snapped peoples hands off for mid -table in the 2nd division for most of our history.
a quick bit of mental arithmetic .. squad of 30 players averaging £7 k = 210, 000 x 4 = 840,000 x10 =£8.4m + 3 x840k = 2.5k = £10.9m add on £1m for academy players = close enough!
Club highlight that they will not go on a spending spree if Scott is sold. This is exactly the message I would expect to hear. Firstly the £25 million would help with FFP but that needs to be done sensibly so in 3 years time when the £25 million come out of the FFP calculation we do not need to suddenly cut spending. However, more importantly if we do get £25 million for Scott we need to ensure that in this or the next couple of transfer windows when we decide to try and sign a player both the selling club and player agent understand that we are not a wash with £25m so they up the price but we are still a sensibly run club who will not over pay wages or transfer fees. Hence I would assume the current messaging from Nigel and the club. Does anyone on here expect the club to put out any other message?
one has to hope that we get £5m in add ons and at least 20% of any further transfer! as opposed to profit from transfer!
I am really starting to lose all my faith in Bristol City when I am constantly bombarded with supposed reasons as to why we are constantly having to apologize to our supporters for being unable to compete. It tells me that at some point in our recent history we messed up so badly over many seasons as to either risk falling afoul of the FFP and that thought alone leads to my disdain at anything I hear from my club. Who was it that sanctioned all these high salaries for mediocre players incapable of punching their way out of a wet paper bag that has led to the point where we appear to be afraid of our own shadow? Long gone are the days of a new stadium just down the road along with all the talk of a higher level of football to fill that lovely new venue and yet here we are at the start of a new season apparently back at GO. Parachute payments have been somewhat used as an excuse but it has to be way deeper than that single get out clause, and for me it is becoming clearer that we are not the club I thought we might be and quite bluntly I can't ever see myself watching a Premier League game at Ashton Gate in my lifetime unless we ground share with a more ambitious club. Sorry guys I am just getting totally fed up with the voices coming out of BS3 because I have heard the same garbage for way too long and all I see facing us is the same old lack of ambition.
I can’t see us agreeing a buy back. That’s worse than a loan. We’d just be developing another teams player.
Depends what the agreed buy back fee is? I would hope we would add a healthy margin to the buy back price, above whatever we would pay for him.

Bristol City club record £8m signing set for free transfer after Nigel Pearson admission Bristol City’s position on Tomas Kalas has not changed and now it’s ‘very low’ that he makes a return to Ashton Gate. https://www.bristolworld.com/sport/...igning-set-to-depart-on-free-transfer-4242566
Kalas obviously isn’t willing to sign the contract we’ve offered, and we aren’t going to improve on it. My thoughts are it’s not even close to what he wants, it’s a shame but there you go.
Scott has an 'injury' and doubtful for PNE. The cynic in me wonders if a Prem is close to signing him.
I think it must be personal between Kalas and Pearson. One of the better signings of the previous regime - and a fan’s favourite. Why would he not want to stay and be a part of our exciting new future - unless he doesn’t want to work under Nige?
