    Translated as:

"Following the departure of Matteo Gabbia, Milan are looking for a new centre-back to be included in the AC Milan squad. As reported by SportMediaset on Italia Uno, in England they are increasingly approaching the Rossoneri with Andrew Omobamidele, an Irish player born in 2002 who plays for Norwich and who is liked by various Premier League clubs. The English club is asking for 15 million euros, Milan offers half. It deals with."

    €7.5m? Get real.

Considering they were supposed to have offered over £20m in January and were rejected I find it highly doubtful

Liam Gibbs has signed a new longer term Norwich City contract:

"The former Ipswich Town academy prospect, and the Canaries' young player-of-the-year last season, pledged his Carrow Road future until at least 2028, and will wear the number eight shirt for the new season. The 20-year-old midfielder made 37 appearances in his breakthrough campaign, and notched his first senior goal in the Championship away win at Blackburn in April. Gibbs, who had two years left on his previous Canaries' deal, hails from an Ipswich-supporting family, but swapped the Blues for their East Anglian rivals in July 2021."

Even better that we signed him from Ipswich. <laugh>

Just to set the record straight (so apologies) Resurgam has not issued me with a warning or anything like that <ok>

I was extremely bored of Robbie’s particularly rude and offensive style, but I stopped engaging with him more than eight months ago - apart from a brief exchange when he bizarrely launched into me (can’t remember exactly when, maybe around March). I now know that virtually every post of his is a snide dig or an arrogant dismissal of others, so I just ignore them.

The only reason I have been a bit absent from posting is that the Summer break doesn’t engage me so much.

Also to set the record straight, I have never at any time received any warning, public or private, from any of our moderators, regarding "rude and offensive" content posted by me. The only warning I have ever received was the public one issued by Walsh in connection with the, to quote Rob, "brief exchange" in March. That joint warning did not refer to any rudeness or offensive content posted by me; you can all check that for yourselves by referring back.
I am scrupulous about addressing posts, not the poster. I eschew ad hominem argument; I do not engage in it. I do not make personal remarks about the character of others. And nor should anyone.
It is somewhat ironical, IMO, to be accused of posting in a "rude and offensive" style, by someone who, on receiving that warning from Walsh, immediately added a signature referring to me as "an idiot"!

You may not be directly rude and offensive, Robbie, but your manner of posting often comes across as rude and offensive, like rather arrogantly using "I eschew ad hominem" when you could have easily said 'I avoid using personal attacks'. This is a football forum, but you often behave as if it's an Oxford Union debate.

Occasionally you display a lighter touch, which makes a refreshing change, but too often you then lapse back into rigid points and defend them to the end. You have a very good knowledge of football, but it sometimes gets lost in your manner of expressing it, which is a pity.

Nothing, but Pohjanpalo doesn't seem to have had any local confirmation of interest, and recruits for the academy sides rarely result in big announcements from the club. An Irish newspaper said yesterday they still expect it to happen.

Technically, he’s using it incorrectly. Ad hominem is a type of, generally fallacious (ie logically wrong), argument.

In fact, ad hominem can actually be logically correct - e.g. “you failed your philosophy exam, therefore you do not understand logic”, in simplistic terms that is an attack on the person but (depending on other facts - it’s not a great example) is not necessarily fallacious.

Calling someone names or commenting upon their character may be unpleasant to them or immature, but, unless it is used as part of the argument, is not actually an ad hominem argument. E.g. “you are stupid therefore you are wrong” rude and an ad hominem fallacy; “you are wrong. You are also stupid”, rude but not an ad hominem fallacy.

And of course those names or comments on character may, incidentally, be correct, as well as logically support the argument and therefore not a fallacy - eg “you are always unfairly critical of Hanley, therefore you are not giving him enough credit with how well he played this match”.

Which is why I said that I don't use ad hominem arguments and, separately, in the next sentence, that I do not make personal comments on the character of others. It was Rick who conflated them, not me.
