Lenglet heading off to the deserts , age 27 and heading for the money , an ok player for us at best but now gone suits me fine
Levy confirmed to the THST that there was a minimum EBITDA ratio convenant on the stadium financing. That will impose some limitations on our spending.
Apparently we are in negotiations for Alejo Veliz .........quickly Googles him to become instant expert £ 15 million with a loan back deal Never heard of him , Any good ? Refuse to YouTube him because I've been fooled by that so many times before
TBH, with BILGE's character assassination of Kane coupled with Wolfsburg's sudden reverse ferret over van de Ven, it's quite possibly the opposite: Bayern have thrown in the towel and teams are mentally removing the extra £10-15m they were adding onto prospective transfer fees We'll see what van de Ven costs, as I very much doubt it will be the €50m quoted by Pedulla if we're still in the hunt for Tapsoba
Lionel Messi has talked him up, comparing him with Luis Suarez (although Football Talent Scout compares him more with Raul Jimenez) One obvious thing to mention: the Argentine season finishes in December, so the loan-back would (in theory...) have him with us in January - although probably not playing immediately, what with having an entire Argentine season in his legs He's also a champion malambo dancer, which is probably the only time I will ever use that sentence in my life
Yeah that’s what reports have been implying too. It’s a huge gamble to be going down that route as Richarlison has never proven himself in 5 years in the Prem and you can never really predict how a young forward will turn out but then I suppose there’s no clear way to even semi-adequately replace arguably the best striker in the game at the moment. One of those Argentinian journos did also mention Rosario would like Veliz back until December too.
I'm pretty much resigned to this eventuality tbh. Bottom line is Kane is essentially irreplaceable as there are no more than 5 players out there who can match his quality and none of them would move to us even if we could afford them. Osimhen might have been doable back when City almost signed Kane but he's now worth £40m more and tbh seems really settled at Napoli, a huge part of their upward curve. Beyond the obvious options like Kuani, who I also don't think would come to us as we have no CL football, I wouldn't mind us going for a different style player entirely, especially given the fact that Ange's system is far more fluid and therefore less reliant on a traditional 9. We've both been banging the Ollie Watkins drum since he was at Brentford and I'd love us to test those waters as I do think he is gettable. I'm not keen on Toney, CBA for the whole media circus about the gambling thing. But my gut instinct is that Mr Pigeon will be our first choice striker and we'll split the Kane money between a new CB and 2 or 3 very young potential stars up front. There is some wisdom in this as with a bit of luck and a lot of research and insight, a £10m youngster can become a £70m superstar in a couple of years. I don't know anything about his Argentinian lad but I've seen Gift Orban a few times and he looks like a younger version of Osimhen. Massive potential there. The talent is out there, you just need to know where to look and when to buy - and then trust the youngsters to develop, giving them time to do so! We've been appallingly bad at this basic strategy in recent years. Brighton have shown this to be true time and again and if they can spot an Evan Ferguson for £600k, we have to aspire to do the same.
I been banging that Watkins drum since he was at Exeter! Could see he was destined for a bright future back then. Villa will want crazy money now though, probably likely £60m+ and I’m not too sure he’d be as keen yet, might prefer that European campaign with Villa. Agree on Toney, good player but I don’t think going for a watered down version of Kane is the best idea, regardless of the current gambling ban.
Romano says Veliz has agreed personal terms on a long term deal. Now just to negotiate with Rosario and he’s said what one or two others have with regards to Rosario wanting him back until December.
Which Brighton players have gone on to be pivotal members of a side that finished top four? There is no evidence that any club has a better record than us overall in identifying and developing top players. It's obviously the right thing to try to do which is why everyone is having a go but no-one seems to have an edge. Our successes and failures have been bunched together which is why we had such a good team five years ago.
Deep breaths but it’s pointing to Kane not leaving this summer. I’d have been less confident on that if we’d have advanced on Gift Orban but the Argie lad has no experience in Europe and will likely as you say not even be at the club until 2024. Unless we have other irons in the fire that have been looked over in the rush now VdV deal has woken back up and other links are resurfacing, that is.
Trossard was crucial for the Goons last season. But that’s kind of the point I was making the other day. Good players at one club don’t necessarily equate to good players at another. There’s a whole variety of environmental and systemic factors that, for the vast majority of players, are as, if not more, important than pure quality. At a certain level of quality it becomes less relevant but that’s the absolute top percentile (the Kanes, Haalands of the world). For Spurs to have an edge it’s about finding the good players working in roles and environments that are similar to what we offer at the club, who we think can at least replicate that or become more than good. That, and our planning for youth and inconsistency in playing style between coaches the last few years, are what have caused us problems with recruitment.
Ben White and Trossard were part of the Arsenal team that finished 2nd last season. They’ve made profits on those two plus Curcurella and Bissouma who joined sides expected to finish top four/ six whilst replacing all with similar or even better players, which then helped them finish 6th last season. Bissouma’s replacement is now being linked with a £80m+ move to Chelsea too. Meanwhile the signings we’ve made in recent years have largely sped up our regression and all bar a small handful would be sold for considerable losses to sides likely battling relegation or finishing lower half of the table. So I’d say there’s a sufficient amount of proof that Brighton certainly have a better record of identifying players over us at present.
IIRC there were reports late last season saying we were keeping tabs on him for next summer to see how he progresses this coming season
I don’t think the Veliz signing impacts any potential outcome either way to be honest. Reports seem to imply well be targeting a couple/ few young forwards to replace Kane so he could indeed be part of that pack and the one who develops away from the club for a bit or he’s simply seen as a project and someone to replace Richarlison with in time if Kane commits. I’d say right now it’s still likely 70-30 in favour of Kane leaving.
Romano confirming reports Gala are interested in Ndombele. I’ll love that if it goes through, I have a lot of Fener mates so palming that waster onto Gala and let him damage them as much as he did us will be rather amusing.
Says a lot that we can't quite sweet talk them into offering €10m no matter what the payment schedule might be In other news, Lenglet has reportedly turned down the offer to spend a stint in the oil fields, so that gets him back into Spurs-related headlines for another couple of weeks
