Ah, are we seeing signs of who Jimmy's new public enemy #1 is now? <laugh>

I love Robbo but you must be blind if you cannot see his regression over the last 18 months. Trent got most of the abuse last year because his shortcomings were more visible I.e players taking him on.

Robbo on the other hand made countless errors which hardly got flagged - losing runners, not tracking, not stopping crosses, headless pressing and leaving gaps.

he's never stopped crosses. we don't want to stop crosses from wide areas. i hate it but it's from klopp.

he's always got caught behind the line. that's the cbs fault as well for not keeping their line right.

people who try to make up for the others lack of will often get called headless for trying extra hard.

We conceded more goals down our left side than right side last year.

Trent is the easy target but Robbo is actually really poor in this new system

Both Trent and Robbo suffered because Hendo used to have legs to cover both of them

You won’t see it but even match of the day did a step by step on how Hendo used to provide them the ability to go forward and not worry about defending

as Hendon’s legs started to go
We see a dip in Trent and Robbo

If the new midfield have legs and klopp goes that way again he will be fine

I do agree with your point on the midfield. They need to offer far more protection than they did last season

Some common ground <cheers> but I can’t help but feel I am agreeing to Hendo being poor
But in fairness we are talking the whole midfield last year and I think we can defo agree on that <cheers>

the senior panel is vvd trent, alisson, Robertson and salah.

these 5 are the backbone of the side and round which the rest are shaped.

macallister, szoboszlai, gakpo, nunez, diaz, konate and all the kids all give the side intensity and drive.

this is all good as long as the first 11 plays every week as it was for 2 years under klopp before.

Problem is that Konate, being the type of defender that he is, is going to get niggly injuries, and the drop off between him and our current back ups is worryingly big.

Konate is our best option to partner VVD but still young and inexperienced so not the greatest CB for a team with our aspirations.

    11 caps for france
    169 career appearences

Wouldnt say he’s that young and inexperienced tbh

We desperately need a CB. No issues with konate’s ability but I do worry about his injury record.

I really like Matip but he cannot play in this current system, and you all know my thoughts on Robbo. This new system could actually suit Gomez better than Robbo so I’m surprised we haven’t explored that yet.

It’s frustrating because I feel we are two good signings away from having an ideal starting XI

Fair point, that makes his mistakes even more questionable though. He plays like a kid at times, his decision making can be erratic

If you want to go full on 3 CB's you may be better making using Matip for his ability to carry the ball .
Personally don't think we have the personnel to play it particularly well particularly when combined with a high line.

You're right, but I think what's making it worse is the responsibility he has for covering the RB channel as well.
I really don't like this system - though I suppose I've made that fairly obvious by now.
