In fairness Ehab and McCann were around long after a period of disdain from fans. Everyone's patience had worn thin. Fair to question things but some people are properly bed wetting

We triggered Coyles option this year before he re-signed and Honeymans last summer albeit with the latter ultimately to prevent him leaving for free. We triggered Elders last year and Doc's this summer also.

Vaughn Covil's extra year was also triggered

And now it seems some of us are getting pelters for not being sycophants for Acun and Rosenior as part of an uncritical echo chamber. McCann was heavily criticised for his tactical rigidity but when Rosenior says ‘I have my way of playing and I want players who fit my style of play’ we’re told ‘Liam knows best’, ‘trust in Liam’, ‘don’t read into what Rosenior says, that’s what all managers say duh’ etc. despite him being a head coach for only 1 year.

The amount of **** McCann got and Lee Darnbrough continues to get whilst Rosenior is considered immune to any sort of criticism is just pathetic.

Rosenior has yet to resist tactical flexibility resulting in us going from playoff contenders to relegation in 4 months. He hasn't yet conceded 8 and stood by it either.

There's fair criticism and then there's a witch hunt. There's a significant difference between the 2.

I didn’t really like McCann. I thought he should’ve gone after the 8-0 defeat to Wigan. But he won us our first league title in decades and after a rocky start back in the Championship, he managed to steady things before being unceremoniously binned off for one of Acun’s mates who was nowhere near qualified for the job in what would be the first mistake of Acun’s on-field decisions.

Regarding Rosenior, I’ll use the Russian proverb ‘trust but verify’. I’ll believe the hype when I see it.

Fair enough. I don't expect anyone to always agree, but maybe compare Acun to the Allams when he's tried to disavow the clubs heritage and isolate it from the city, when he's made kids and pensioners pay the same as working adults and when he's disinvested to the point we end up in the 3rd tier for the first time in a decade and a half.

If he isn’t match fit…..he isn’t fit….that’s what “fit” means

It used to be known as match fit or match sharp.

There's a difference between that and being physically fit, as in not injured?

Surely you have the intelligence to see that?

Oh my ****ing lord some on here are really embarrassing themselves… honestly like ****ing children, in fact worse than children. I suggest they revisit their comments later in the season and if as I think and hope, it will all have gone swimmingly lol. We are building what in my opinion is going to be a really good team in this division and one that will have visiting teams very weary. The transfer window doesn’t close until 11pm Friday 1st September, that’s 30 ****ing days away…..4 league games and the donkeys of Doncaster before the window closes, I honestly think we’ll be in a very good position by then. It’s just my opinion for what it’s worth…..

Sorry but in football, "fit" means he can play. If he's isn't inured but isn't ready the play, then he isn't "fit"

First we refuse to stump up anything remotely close to the asking price for Max Bird, now we sign Connolly on a one year deal?

Complete embarrassment. I’m ashamed to be a city fan, we’re turning into proper cheapskates.

You should maybe have done similar before responding to the tweet about the Connolly deal?

We're just over two and a half days from the season starting. Compared to under the previous regime we're a club on the up and we have ambition again, which we're seemingly steadily working towards. We've brought in another good looking player that we've already seen can really make us tick...

But yet again we're dissecting Rosenior's words to the nth degree, the players we're targeting, the positions we're looking to strengthen, questioning the owner, the structure of the deal, how unfit some players must be... Basically twisting as many factors as possible into negatives, before a ball has been kicked - a lot of factors just based on assumption however.

    I don't get it.

If we were to get Bird, Twine, a keeper and if we can squeeze one in under FFP - improved LB competition, then I think we'll be far better equipped than last season. Then we need to see if Rosie can get them to tick when it matters. I can't shake the impression people's minds are already made up though - any sniff of a potential negative at the moment and it's like lips are being licked. That's how it comes across on here anyways.

So what's someone who's fit enough to play 20ins or so at the end of a game when the physical intensity has gone and someone who's ready to start?

    It's semantics isn't it?

You can be' fit' whilst carrying an injury as Coyle and Oscar both proved last year or have no injury just not be up to speed training wise and not fit.

I think in common terms outside of the football bubble most folk refer to a player being injured or fit. And nowt inbetween.

Yep. Think it was you the other day who said about conjecture being treated as fact and then used as fuel for negativity. Someone challenged me for examples when I replied saying it's been like that all summer. This Connolly thing is a fine example. Some no mark on Twitter says it's £1.2m, which it obviously was never going to be as a couple of posters pointed out. Sure enough it gets shot down by Baz but by then it's too late, we're already in full swing on here slamming the club and comparing it to an Ehab deal. Doesn't even seem to matter that it's been completely dismissed, it's not stopped people going off at all.

Bit like when Vinagre was an absolutely awful signing because he's out til October at least with a torn achilles. A couple of us pointed out that if he had a torn achilles we wouldn't be signing him. But a vague, 2-month old reference to injury from Sean Dyche, which didn't mention a tear at all, was treated as absolute proof that he had in fact torn it and would be out til October at least. So what a shock it was when he played in our last 3 pre-season games.

Genuine question, what signing so far has shown real ambition in your opinion? and if we don't get bird, Twine and the keeper is a untested youngster for example. How will you feel we are compared to last season?

( Not saying we will or won't get those players )

Darlow in January, Vinagre this time so far. Connolly has pedigree and if we keep his head right is not exactly a **** signing either.

We seem to be replacing like for like at the moment. (Tetteh for Connolly, woodsnfornl Bird, Longman for a reported forward player etc...)

If we're going to be bringing in Johnny bigbollox on a marquee deal then I'd expect it would need to be budgeted for via departures first. Such is FFP.

I know you weren't asking me but given that we haven't lost anyone we didn't want to, and we've upgraded a few positions, and we've got half our attack back from injury, surely it's pretty plain that we're significantly better off than we finished last season already, even if we didn't sign another player.

Many would argue the league is harder this year.
