should and will are two different things. I am 1000% sure that if he's fit he will start. this is a problem for sure.

Being an engineer, MITO, you should know that 1000% is not possible

it is in quantum mechanics you ought to know that. I merely believe it so much I've converted the energy of my belief into a turd of matter called carragher's name o nthe team sheet.

in short if utd can drop neville... and we can drop hyppia, then carrgher has no place walking back into our side. But he will.

I've never come across the 'turd' as a unit of measurement before. I'm a molecular biologist by qualification, with a strong interest in physics, but I'm not a dab-hand at the maths <ok>

turd is like a cubit... it's an ancient but reliable measure, like

    up to your neck in......

    you are full of.....

    or

    smells like....

74,000 turds is how you measure the capacity of old trafford for example.

    Here comes my 2cents...

Yes its been 2 clean sheets - I grant you that, and our season so far hasn't been bedecked with many of them. However, it was against those well known powerhouse strikeforces of West Brom (managed by noted proponent of totalvoetbal - Roy Hodgson - 9 goals in 10 games) and newly promoted Swansea (managing a massive 12 goals in 11 games). If we couldn't manage clean sheets against those two sides, then it'd be time to go home.

So to have the orchestrator of the defence out for those two games has at least given the line a time to settle and get familiar with one another.

    However. (big pause)

The man in possession of the shirt is Martin Skrtel. I know that there are many of you here who have questioned his ability and his temperament on more than one occasion. So really, so long as Agger is fit and in the other shirt, the question appears to be Skrtel or Carragher. Whatever you think of Jamie, he's certainly a good organiser of the backline, vocal and decisive. Some have said he's slowing up, but I can't ever remember having seen him look much quicker at any time in his career.

I guess the bacis question should be not whether he 'walks into the side' but whether you think Skrtel is good enough to keep him out???

The positive thing is that Kenny ( like the rest of us) has realised how good Agger is when fit, after waxing lyrical about him last week.So like it has been already it does seem to be between Carra n Skrtel, if Kenny dropped Agger for Carra, it would be fair to say I would go f**kin bonkers, and a lot of other fans would too.Surely though if you keep clean sheets, you cant change the CB pairing.......can you?.

It wouldnt surprise if we play 5 at the back, which would really, really annoy me also, that really would look like changing the formation for no other reason than keeping Carra happy. The tem selection should be based on the best team for the job,and not keepin blue eyed boys happy.

Playing a back 3 and having Johnson and Enrique as wing backs has the advantage of being able to free up someone to keep an eye on Silva for the Citeh game - they've score 39 in the league so far, so I can't see us going to play that game with a gung-ho attitude. Chelsea has scored 24 in 11, so they'll also need some careful handling, but if you can shut down the fullbacks they seem to have problems with creating opportunities, so again, having Johnson and Enrique bombing on should have the desired effect of pushing back the full backs and again we have the extra man at the back to watch for Mata's later runs...

Don't forget Daydo, we beat Chelsea with that formation last year, and gave Torres a quick reminder on why he should have stayed at a big club. I do agree with it would look heavily like he was changing the team for Carra.

I think it would be a tactical change for the next three matches, and if any of Carra, Agger, or Skrtel were unavailable for the games, I would expect Coates or Kelly to be slotted into a 3 centrebacks line. I am fully expecting the change, given the potloads Citeh particularly, and also Chelski have been scoring of late.

    1. i agree on the team those clean sheet were against.

    2. pace... carrgher was never quick but he looks all in after 10mins in a game and can be run past with ease. If he gets isolated he will foul.

    3. skertl. yes he's tosh but at least he can run and stragnely despite the education from carragher doesn't give that many ogs or pens.

    4. for me i'd like to see agger and coates together.... a ball player and a tall ball winner... for me thats the way to go.

finally...... carrgher will be back in cos he is king of the hill, the others can do the job but he's the guy with the rep..... just think about carragher v aguero... oh oh.

I dont think we should pay with 3 CBs for either game, for cIty it should be 442,with Carroll involved

For Chelsea it should be 451/433, we need to have loads of bodies in the midfield v Chelski, not at the back, havin 5 at the back will just bring encourage Chelsea pressure In my opinion

    Id go for v Chelski

    Reina
    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
    Hendo Lucas Adam
    Suarez and 2 from Kuyt,Bellamy,Downing

Especially as Chelsea only play with 1 central striker anyway, and pack the midfield

    2. You may be right about that - with 3CBs less chance of becoming isolated, so this should benefit the team and keep his organisational skills at the back.
    4. That looks like the future to me, so long as Agger can solve his fitness issues (which I will be convinced of if we can get 30+games from him this season).

As for Carra va Aguero, so long as he isn't allowed to pick the ball up in midfield and have a free run at JC, he shouldn't be more of a concern than most of their team, Silva excepted. Silva is another deal entirely. Much of this will rely on just how much protection the midfield 3 (Lucas, Adam, Henderson?) can give the back 3 (presuming a 3CB defence)

If go for 3 at the back for both games for security and flexability

    -----------Reina----------
    ---Skrtel--Agger--Carra---
    Johnson------------Enrique
    ---Hendo--Lucas--Adam---
    ----------Kuyt------------
    ---------Suarez-----------

I'd keep Bellamy and Carroll on the bench with Coates, Kelly, Spearing, Maxi and Doni

i think carragher drags the line 10 yards deeper and organisation is all well and good but its isolating the forwards. i think the others can organise well enough and a high line is crucial....

if carrgehr is just being protected for the sake of having a guy shouting the odds it's pointless... let reina shout the odds for us and drop carragher. at least make it an on merit decision away from talk of organisation.

****ing right on that, would love to see it but doubt it this year unless injuries or a cup game possibly.
