Can't imagine Rosie doesn't already know if Bird wants to come or not. Think this may be a case of Derby just holding out to get what they can.
It will be that, but to say it's derisory sounds like they're annoyed by it. I wonder if they're upset by the fact it's come into the public domain today. For Baz to be tweeting it presumably it was green-lit by City. Is that us trying to put pressure on them maybe? It's an interesting sequence of things.
Acun needs to stop ****ing about and actually spend some money else we’re going down. Absolute laughing stock.
Yeah it feels like clubs talking to each other publicly to pressure the other. Happens all the time. Be interesting to see how far we are off
He wants to come, he knows what's on offer and is fine with it. It's just down to a fee being agreed.
Surprised we haven't looked at Yukusulu at West Brom - apparently they have money troubles and he's a Turkish player who is already acclimatised to the league. Defensive Midfielder.
Noticed this being reported on Twitter - seems like the Turkish fans don't seem arsed/delighted with the fee from the tweets I saw.
O.K,so someone needs to ask and I've been delegated... Has he always been a 'Bird'? If not we might need to merge him into the 'Flagging' thread!!
I’d be quite happy if he scored just one goal a season, so long as it’s one of those and I’m sat in the stadium watching it…
My only concern regarding the midfield is that we have a lot of players who are decent in possession (which is fair enough for a possession-based team) but out of possession the midfield is completely anonymous. Selling Woods and getting Bird won’t change that, even if Bird is a good player. You can see how weak we are in midfield out of possession when we face counter-attacking teams or other teams that dominate possession. We do okay defending against teams that sit deep but against the likes of Boro, Sunderland, Norwich away etc. and Burnley at home last season, we got ripped to pieces in midfield. Even against West Brom at home when we won 2-0, West Brom had like 20 shots and 70% possession. We don’t concede as many goals under Rosenior but we still concede too many chances but the keepers and back four bail us out. It does concern me because we score nowhere near enough goals to offset this big weakness in midfield. Not scoring enough goals means we draw games we should’ve won and not having a midfield that offers protection out of possession means we lose games we maybe could have drew or even won. Rosenior gets a lot of credit for improving us defensively, which he should, but we still dropped a lot of points under him last season. The draws against Sunderland, Blackpool, Huddersfield and Rotherham at home spring to mind and we may have fared better against Sunderland and Boro away if the midfield offered more protection to the back four out of possession. We conceded 7 goals in those games and a lot of them could’ve been prevented by a defensive midfield putting in challenges, winning loose balls etc.
Those 4 games you mentioned are when we couldn't unlock a team sitting deep. However, I do agree that a ball winner would be nice to bring in. I just dont foresee it happening. Think they want to bring in technically better players and make them defensively more sound.
