We don’t really know what goes on behind the scenes do we?, His attitude seems to be to concentrate his, and his coaches efforts on players that are going to be in the squad, we don’t know what conversations he’s had with the players you mentioned, and he’s not going to break their confidence by putting those conversations in the public domain. FWIW I think HNM wanted to leave, but was professional and prepared to give what he could whilst here, NP would rather use the committed where possible. Kalas is going to see what his options are before committing, again NP working with the knowns, I think Kalas is pretty close to being gone, if not already gone. I’m sure he would have been given a date by which time there’s no going back.

Without wishing to sound like RR, but, an old Army mucker of mine, his dad is a gardener at Kalas house, and he claims Kalas was fit for a lot more games than he was played in last season, but NP wouldn't play him unless he signed a new contract. It's apparently soured the relationship quite badly.

I think HNM is the type of player who wants to be wanted, and he wasn't by NP,, so he clearly decided to see out his contract and move on, fair play to him.

Same as me mate, to be frank I only care, as you do about our club, I also agree that this is a make or break season for Nige and it's top ten or bust, anything less is a failure.

Strange isn’t it, there are many of NP’s ex players who won’t have a word said against him, say how loyal he is. I guess it’s like in any work place, different characters and different opinions.

100%, it all depends on where you are in the pecking order. I'm sure if Kalas and HNM had the contracts they wanted, and were playing regularly, there would be no issues. For me it wasn't about them having a go at NP, I think all players have to accept some reality, especially these days.

Every season is a make or break season, there’s just different goals, I agree he has to get top 10 minimum and we have to be fighting for top 6. Even if we ultimately just fail.

From what I remember NP didn’t criticise Kalas though, at least not publicly, his attitude seems to be he has a big decision to make, obviously his new contract offer is going to be much lower than his present one, he’ll want to see what else is on offer elsewhere. However from the clubs perspective I will concentrate on who we know are going to be here. That seems reasonable.

when you sell anything the last thing you need to do is undermine the price! So stating we have to get rid of the dross or the unwanted you lose the high ground [ and wont go into them as there quite a few on here who were ex sales! ] but basically you placed the value at zero because one way or another you are getting rid. With footballers you are needing to get rid to save money so a backfire straight away!

There were 5 or 6 that are doing a half decent job and will do a good job. all for free... EX city players from the last 3 years could make up a half decent team under the right manager! As someone said a few are actually internationals so that would mean those managers [ international ] are superior to getting the best from a player?

when you analyse the players and look at the situation of some of them at the time back then he put together a squad that was a "nearly squad" it needed a manager capable of taking them into the higher reach's of the prem! NP was becoming a bit of a loose canon..... and his time at Leicster was quite controversial ? He got them there kept them there ............... just ....... so hopefully IF he achieves that for us ..............!!!!!

Nigel Pearson only commits the resources to players that are committed to the cause -if the players are not on the same wave length there history.

About time we had a manager that takes no nonsense -he has the respect of the players something previous managers did not.

we have already seen that "attitude" of banishment ... with players that have an opinion but get knocked down!
Whilst in the team a player will be loyal in the squad loyal ..playing in position happy out of position not happy .. dropped for 1 mistake not happy you can fit all these in the last 3 years and some!

The reason it’s prevalent at the moment is because post covid wages are generally much lower than pre covid, it’s also why there are so many available for free.

    edit
    Kalas is a perfect example

Today will be Kalas’s last pay check from us. As of tomorrow he will be on his savings(wish I had his savings). So this would be the week I expect us to hear news on what’s going on with him.

Personal attitude is a huge part of a player's overall acceptability within any club's operational boundaries. Any player who fights the system from within is likely to incur the wrath of their manager which eventually leads to a more serious breach of discipline likely to upset the smooth running of the team and create disharmony in the dressing room. Handling large egos is always going to be difficult and only those managers prepared to stand their ground and not put up with the bull who will win the day in terms of getting it right. I think Nigel is a hard nose manager who created his image from his playing days and I also think he is capable of good things based on his knowledge as a player turned boss and his overall football brain. This season, or at least the first 3 months, should show us how his dealings could change the success of Bristol City, but beyond that time frame the jury will be out especially if we are in the bottom half by December facing the deep winter in questionable status. Most of us are fed up with all of the bluster surrounding what the club should be doing and now want to see the hype show up on the pitch, rather than in the media, because the time has come to put up or shut up. The many years of promises and pillars has drained the will to live for a lot of supporters of my age and the mediocre wheel spinning eventually takes it's toll on the brain and makes it start to hurt. Many other teams of similar, or less, infrastructure have succeeded where we have failed many times and so for me it's our turn to shine in the limelight but my head tells me it will be more of the same apathy yet again. Bristol City just don't seem to have the right mindset at the top and have been taken to the cleaners by previous staff members to the point where it has to be asked who actually runs the show, and are the lesser folk allowed their opinions to get us to where we have been promised many times is the ultimate destination. Well!

Not being pedantic, but surely if his last pay check is today, surely tomorrow he’ll be living on todays pay check, he’ll start living on his savings the day after this pay check ends, either next week if he’s paid weekly or next month if he’s paid monthly?

But he won’t until he finds a club be getting any other payments. What I mean is if his offer was half of what he’s currently on, then the check today would have been his last one on current contract.
