Looking into my Crystal Ball and scrolling forward a full year.. " Last season Greg Docherty played in 0 of Hull's 46 Championship matches" I like Docherty but in my opinion if he wasn't injured we'd have tried to move him on,I'm not sure if he fits into the plans going forward?
So Tetteh is going because of his injury record but we've signed Connolly ? Did he manage 2 or 3 games for us in his loan spell before he was injured ? Sorry if it's been talked about before but I did scroll past a lot of messages that seemed to be about religion etc.
Rosie on Connolly - "Without going into too much detail, and I'm not being disingenuous or lying but Aaron was always in my thoughts," Rosenior said when asked what had promoted the change of course. "It's about timing. I don't want a big squad, Benjamin Tetteh leaving enables us to have Oscar, Aaron and Liam as our strikers". Doesn't sound like he's expecting Oscar to go anywhere.
We've all seen in those 5 games that there is definitely a player in there. If, and it is a big IF, he sorts his head and fitness out, we have a hell of a player for this level. If he doesn't, well, it's a bit more money wasted but I do believe it is worth the gamble.
Gamble worth taking IMO. I’ve been a fan of him for years. Not just quality but his work-rate off the ball. Incredibly important to have that up front - something Fraizer Campbell proved in that promotion season.
It sounds like Connolly was liked in the squad as well. This combined with the fact he probably wants to play under a familiar face in Rosenior will probably bring out the best in him. Just hope his hamstrings hold up
If that’s it for strikers, it means other players are going to have to step up with goals. There’s only 19 goals in that group last season. Oscar grabbed 13 last season, then Tufan managed 8, followed by Slater with 5 and Greaves with 4. Most promoted teams have at least two players hitting double figures, usually one that barnstorms it. Out of our defenders, only Greaves really posed a threat from set pieces, that needs to change as well. Christie did manage 3, but he missed half the season. Either we use Traore and another winger to get Oscar firing, or other players will need to step up with the goals.
On that note am I the only one that thinks we generally look naff from set pieces. For all his technical quality Seri really isn't a dead ball specialist
His broken foot was a freak one with us. He has a history of hamstring injuries He put in one or two decent ones against Nantes. Still feel like we are naff at set pieces though
