Do worry about Schars ability to make it through 45/50 games this year. Unless Lascelles is seriously being considered for the RCB spot we need someone else for RCB. LCB is fine with Botman, Burn, Dummett covering but Schar, Lacselles, Krafth for RCB?
Why? Schar did almost every league game last season and 41 games in total. Would like to have another CB (although LB priority) but Schar ain't a Woodgate.
He's ok but not a lot more, he doesn't get injured that much though. Right now if we sign a LB (the Tierney rumours seem ancient history now), that means Burn and Laecelles are back up to Schar, which some squad depth at least. So realistically we need LB, striker and CB, but with the signings process moving like a glacier hopes aren't high.
God knows I’d live nothing better than to dig into DPP but on this occasion he’s right in saying he’s average
I thought he had mistakes all over him. Took the ball too far and got caught out more than a few times in possession which should easily have led to us being punished more than we were
It’s pour my own and as much as I can. When I ask for a vodka they fill the glass 3/4 full of the stuff
First time in a long time he's managed a full season for us, can't remember him making more than 20-25 games usually. We were outrageously lucky that the back 5 missed about 10 games between them last year and all at different times. He had a good season last year but if he had an injury that saw him out for 8-10 weeks, I'd not be surprised, at which point we are stuck with Burn, Botman starting and Lascelles and Dummy as backup/Cup players. LB I think we will settle with what we have - Targett, Burn, Dummy and Alex Murphy with Manquillo and Trippier able to cover there in emergencies so I kind of expect CB to be the priority. If you could guarantee me Schar stays fit for every game I'd be happy as Larry but I don't see it and think Botman/Burn are good cover but not at RCB for me and Lascelles is a step down in terms of quality.
If you don't update them for a decade they'll crash entirely mate. Though in fairness a move to AI would be all about saving money rather than providing an education so I'm guessing the average Tory voter would be fine with that anyway.
At times we were almost playing in a similar way to City, with Schar stepping into midfield and the back four shuffling to create a back three. We didn't quite have the personnel to pull that off but I see this happening a bit more this season; Isak will lead the line, between Gordon, Almiron and Barnes there's real width and discipline, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton and Willock has a lot about it to move forward more. To do that you need a John Stones type, and Schar's as close as there is - an upgrade would cost a fortune, 'cos everyone wants one! I'd be happy to see us buy a younger player and instead focus on upgrading Burn and getting rid of Targett to support that.
