I'm afraid your right District, but this is meant to be a thread for great memories and moments of the past,so we'll leave it at that mate.
All the great ones I remember are here already - Highbury in 82, Wembley in 82, Paul Furlong's goal against Oldham, Leeds last year. I don't remember the 70's but I'm jealous of those who do. How about Trevor Sinclair's goal against Barnsley? Or driving to the play off final in cardiff down the M4 past all those motorway bridges with QPR flags draped over them - I never knew there were rrrrrs in Swindon! I'm going to choose another one - beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford bridge in the early 80's. Here's to the next victory at their place.
What about that cup game against Arsenal at LR? 1988 or 89? Don Howe was manager, Wegerle and Sansom scored for us, Sansom's was a cracker. But what I remember most is Wilkins bossing the midfield and this one moment when he left both Parlour and Adam's sitting on their arses as he pulled the ball back twice with the sole of his foot. Imperious. The game's on YouTube I think.
Erm probably the Trevor Sinclair overhead kick, that was an amazing goal, one that just sticks in the mind forever, I think it was against United wasn't it?
Silly me, still an amazing goal though, always sticks in the mind. Always liked Sinclair even when he was at West Ham, top player
qpr 4 man utd 1..only 450 or so of us up there but we sounded like 40000 was going out with a girl from wigan at the time so was up that way for x-mas going to see the rs was icing on the cake although i did not expect us to win. we were only supposed to be cannon fodder the manc fans even clapped to us as they were leaving early
Agreed, the technique was amazing, one of those goals when the defender and GK just have to put their hands up and say "there was nothing we could do"
great goal from Trev. Only been to a few Rangers matches so: Boxing Day 84 seeing two thirds of the ground sing ten men went to mow. And one of the few non-Chelsea games I've been to: QPR 3 West Ham 0; April 96. Hammers all over the Ellersie
A couple of other magic moments: Hillsborough, i don't think it has been mentioned yet, when we finally dug ourselves out of League 1. I was listening to Radio London commentary online whilst trying to do some work, off course work went out the window when first Gallen, then Furlong and a classy own goal went in, the commentators almost lost their voices trying to make themselves heard over the noise the r's supporters were making. Great moment especially after the heartbreak of the play off final defeat. Also last season when on 5 Live the presenter said "There's been a goal at Vicarage Road ...." Panic set in until the commentator said that Adel had scored, sheer relief and the thought that finally we were up
Agree totally, I had a great view from the paddock and was almost on line with Trevor when he scored. I stood there in absolute amazement until the place erupted half a second later.
Definately my most memorable match & don't think will be beaten & to think we nearly went at half-time yet by the end was speechless, shocked, dumbfounded what a match - watched the goals on youtube a while back & for a smallish crowd the atmosphere was superb.
Never felt more like singin the blues when QPR win and scumsea lose.. oh yeah you got me singin the blues
remember being there as well dave , 2 own goals by the scousers ,put us through to final [ wont mention that game ] . our coach got smashed on the way out of anfield , we dived into some s---hole of a pub , only to find it was packed out with evertonians , whom then joined in with us [around 25 r,s ] and chased tthe liverpool fans , cornerned them , and helped beat the crap out of them , respect to evertonians ever since.
