Didn't watch today, but went to Reading and there were a lot of promising signs there - albeit against poor opposition. I would say it’s basically impossible to predict how we will do. Just have to hope that Martin can install a winning mentality quickly.
After the feast of football we were served up last season, can you really blame fans for their impatience? Surely Martin was aware that he's going to need to demonstrate an exciting if not winning style of play straight from the off. Personally I haven't seen enough to judge so I've no feelings one way or another just yet but I can understand if there's frustration. (Clearly getting upset from pre-season results is just moronic though)
I would say on the whole our fanbase is quite patient. The fact that there were no protests last season is testament to that.
Just watched the highlights. We look so much better on the ball. Only pre-season, so doesn’t matter but such a blatant penalty not even close to the ball and took Edozie out. Lovely little pass from Amo-Ameyaw to Smallbone and Alcaraz looked lively. Disappointing to lose by our favourite score line from last season again, but so difficult to take much from this preseason because our team and squad is still so in limbo.
I didn’t watch today. But this is one of the reasons I’ve been absolutely fine with him leaving this summer despite being my favourite player during the last few seasons. His head has been gone here since about half way through last season IMO, and he’s just not the same player when his hearts not in it. So long as we retain Livramento and Bree we still should be really strong at RB.
Watching Oriol do absolute bits in the Classico . He hit the bar with an excellent volley in the first half
Quite enjoyed the suggestion on the other place that 27 year old Ryan Manning with over 200 appearances in the Championship is not ready to be a Championship starter. Although as it also suggested I’d be interested to see how he compares to Perraud, would imagine he’s on his way out though.
