Milky wondered how long it would be before you brought your hero Marsch back into a debate. Trying to compare stats between Marsch and Bielsa is a joke mate. Your hero was shyt only winning 11 games out of 37, how’s that for real stats. A win ratio of 29%. Plus his tactics and football was garbage and nothing like Bielsaball. Bielsa had a win ratio at Leeds of 48% mate even with a shocking half season before he was sacked.
think the thing with bielsaball is it was about the system to create overloads so didn’t necessarily need ‘better’ players - just fit and hardworking ones with a good attitude. The weaknesses would still be there… man 2 man. But yeh, top quality quick strong defenders would help
Good debate as always but did we really sack Bielsa during our first season back in the PL ? With fans in the stadium I mean.
I’d take bielsa over marsch any day of the week and twice on sundays. I was comparing nothing between them except a similar problem of being on the right end of chances created but not always results. Which is a statistical fact.
I think our starting line up for Cardiff is starting to take shape. Just my take... ....................Darlow ????....Cresswell..Cooper..???? ....................Ampadu ............????................???? James...........????........Sinisterra ......................???? Ayling/Dramah fighting for RB. Struijk/Hjelde/Byram fighting for LB. Bamford/Rutter fighting for striker. The midfield spots are up for grabs for someone tomorrow.
£7.99 to watch tomorrow on LUTV so may as well give it a whirl and try to get up to speed on how we're looking under Farke
Will today be used to: Show his thoughts on how we will be setting up and using his preferred players. Putting some players in the shop window, Meslier, Shackelton, Summerville etc. Maybe a bit of both as our squad won’t be finalised until the end of August.
The three standout players in pre season so far are Ampadu, Sinisterra and Poveda. Who would have given Poveda a chance before FARKE?
Bamford did not get us out of the Championship. Bielsa did. Bamford didn't deserve the death threats and stuff. Bang out of order. However when you look at his injury record and his consistency for missing big chances at key moments it's clear to see that he is unreliable. Winning promotion would be so much more likely with a better forward than him. All that before I even start on his mental attitude and his general vibe over the last couple of years. Ship him out.
Poveda had a great spell at Blackburn before he broke his leg. Really promising. He was OK at Blackpool last year but they weren't exactly playing the type of football we will this season. He needs to do it regularly to get his chance here. Hopefully this is the season he grows up. Everyone knows he has the ability but he needs to switch on now. No tantrums, no sulking, work hard and hopefully he can play a decent role for us even if it is a cameo off the bench. Farkes comments about him after the Forest game were bang on the money. Its basically up to him.
I’d love a better replacement, I’ve always said without Bielsa, Bamfords “other stuff” becomes irrelevant. We wouldn’t have won promotion without Bamford, likewise we wouldn’t without Bielsa. I agree it was a complete team effort but the guy who posted that comment makes some valid points.
If we had a clinical striker then we would have won it in Bielsas first season. We won promotion despite Bamfords glaring misses.
