Well they've beaten off stiff competition for Ampedeu and Darlow so maybe a bit more perspective is required on your part Doc. You of all people know how tricky it can to get deals over the line with multiple agents and DOF etc at clubs these days. Took a while to get Farke but eventually they got their man.
Another plus is both signings are familiar game. I’d become fed up with obscure Johnny foreigners that had likely never heard of Leeds before signing and invariably failed
He looks like a real unit does Karl. Have to say though when / if Mes bulks up he will turn out to be a very good keeper.
Funny you should say that because there seems to be some truth in that. I seem to remember a football journalist (can’t remember which one) showing how we pressed as a team under Bielsa, which completely restricted shots at our goal. And someone remind me of that brilliant footage where the opposition broke away and six Leeds players got back. Bielsaball at its finest.
He will be, not yet, and he will improve under some proper coaching. Amazing that it took Farke about a day to see through him when every other kept him on. The coach I meant
We did do that under bielsa… against the lesser teams anyway. Problem was the chances we did give up were good ones. So we’d have stats in our favour but sometimes not results. Different football but similar problem under marsch.
Meslier may become a good keeper, though as the years go by I question that a little. He isn’t a good keeper at the moment though… by PL standards at least.
You surely mean that perfection in football is unachievable. In the Championship under Bielsa we came a close as anyone but of course still lost matches which ultimately makes sport great does it not ?
Yeh I didn’t mean it as a negative. All systems have strengths and weaknesses… it’s about imposing your strengths… and styles make fights as they say. The reason (or one of them) why football is so popular is it’s a game of skill AND chance… so weaker teams can beat better teams and the better side doesn’t always win. It’s why as we outplayed forest for the 3rd time in 6 months this week… you wonder how they’re still in the prem and we’re not.
