Well... The safety car just kinda sped up the inevitable, but I was really hoping Piastri could hang on to that one.
Amazing how they thought that was worth a penalty, but there wasn't a single unsafe release investigation. Alpine and Ferrari definitely should have had one.
Eh? Must be so quiet that it’s not even happening. Charles has outqualified him in the last five races (bar this sprint).
He may have out qualified him but Carlos is about 6 points ahead in championship, OK so not a massive advantage but still more points! It seemed to me that Ferrari consider Charles their golden boy but Carlos is actually leading in the drivers championship.
He's leading in the championship because Ferrari have screwed Charles' races more often. That's all. Charles if anything, has asserted his dominance in terms of speed even more obviously this season (though Carlos is, and always has been, excellent in the wet). Carlos is a really good driver, but he's not as good as Charles.
Have to say I’m increasingly impressed with Piastri, he’s very mature for a rookie and as the McLaren has moved forwards he’s not looked at all out of place amongst the better drivers he’s now competing with.
Very calm head on those young shoulders. He even got Lando scrambling in the presser yesterday with his emphasis on the floor damage being the reason he’s behind Oscar. Lando knows he’s in a proper fight in the next couple of seasons but let’s also give Piastri that time to mature and grow just as Lando has.
You could tell he was special in the junior formulae, just as you know there's actually nobody special in F2 right now.
He's impressing a lot. Going to be interesting to see how he grows in to F1. We've not seen the best yet.
I feel Carlos has more about him than Charles, even last year. As someone said, he makes better strategy calls even though he may not always be the fastest.
That may be true, but that’s very different to “quietly beating him on a regular basis”, which he just isn’t.
True, but we don't know how well the car drives. Time will tell. Just remember he was a shade above Lando, although Oscar is maybe capable of the same.
