The announcement by Mad Nad of her resignation has now taken longer than Liz Trusses entire premiership

I would love to know from any Tories whether they are happy with this workshy ****wit continuing to be paid for doing **** all for her constituency - but filling her pockets with TVTalk cash.
By not yet resigning, she is continuing to take her £80k salary, together with paying her daughter £40k through the summer <doh>

Great use of UK Taxpayers cash! <grr>

Another day, another 'peoples priority'! <doh>

I suppose as he has already failed in all of the original five, he needs to appease his base somehow. Attacking the homeless is perfect for him!

I heard this on the radio today , the man who's just been released after serving 17 years for a rape he did not commit will have the cost of his board and lodgings while in prison deducted from any compensation he is entitled to
    Is this true ?

Yes, potentially. That is a result if legislation brought in around 5 years ago

It is also not confirmed that he will even get compensation as the HO has so far failed to provide him with the written confirmation of his innocence

It's not quite right....there was a court ruling that people should be compensated for net financial losses while wrongly jailed.
They calculate the net loss by estimating earnings and then subtracting avoided expenditure such as food and lodging. It's still ridiculous though.

    Yes.
Not in every case, but the logic is that those who have saved living costs by being (wrongly) banged up should pay for their “board” in prison.
It is truly despicable and heartless. But it is deliberate and ideological.
The concept of being tough on crime is not having the police responding to crimes and doing a good job or having a criminal justice system the right side of completely dysfunctional, but shafting the wrongfully convicted to appease those who’ve believed for years they were guilty. Doing right by them might actually create an impression the system gets it wrong. So let’s create some ambiguity. In this bloke’s case, there is no ambiguity.

It’s barbaric, but nobody is ever brought to account.
There is some investigation/enquiry/inquest which reaches some conclusion long after the incident (five years of you’re lucky), then there’s some handwringing in the media before it’s forgotten after a couple of days.
And the private companies paid fortunes to run the organisations/institutions carry on as normal.
    Scandalous.

If they are charging the wrongfully convicted board and lodging then why not charge the guilty....<doh>

This is not a parody. They've genuinely posted that themselves.
