ah good, a quick flip to put you back in the groove! ...assume you believe its a good idea to convert such buildings for the long suffering house seekers who have been waiting for years

No flip. It make’s perfect sense. It’s ok to turn these buildings into housing, but to attempt social engineering by putting large numbers of migrants into them isn’t a good idea. You are obsessed with pigeon holing people and making silly names for them. Try listening to the debate instead you may learn something.

I havent, has anyone else actually woven this comment into the posting of GOVE'S idea for using abandoned or not needed commercial areas [ shops etc ] to be developed into housing???

My vision for it is similar and have thought about and chatted about it .. the waste of space! ... look at the old Imperial building! ... sorted now of course. There is well over 30,000 vacant shops [ not counting city centre type department type premises .. Plymouth posted figures last week, I know Plymouth quite well and they are a pretty much well filled up area of houses but have spaces[ or did have! ]
A quick check shows over 200 properties [ commercial ] for sale some quite large some basically might be 1 family or 2 large flats some could even be 10 or 15 20 flats or more ... maybe 2000 residences!
    PROPERTY LADDER
    BASIC house / flat for 1 person/ couple small family 2 +1
Better than basic house as above ... starter homes for lower paid [ affordable?! ]
these get established and people move up / move on etc so a continuing transfer of occupation! etc etc etc

THE .GOV has just released £150m to help Ukranian refugee's displaced another post

If the .gov was to start a fund to convert these type of properties as the land lords! using the councils sorting the rent and conversions they could cover / recover some of the costs, say start with £500m..... ! Staying out of london these property conversions could house 3,000 families [ take 150 towns and split the money say £3 - 3.5m each ]
