Labour's shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has said a reported plan to house migrants in tents shows the government is "flailing around" in its effort to curb small boat crossings.

    Why NOT ...
THEY HAVE JUST SPENT YONKS travelling 000's miles so what else did they sleep in! they are used to it we dont dont have the accomodation available to house the people coming here at the bequest of previous friends family who arrived in the past .
A friend who works for an agency [ .gov ] to do with the picture of illegal immigration, stated that quite a few of them have bank accounts with a fair bit of dosh in them! true or not it would be hoped that it was part of finding out their "real status " why they come here!

Under Labour we may as well stand down Border Force and let the whole rest of the world in.

    love it
    I am currently party less,
SNP ABSOLUTELY wasters have no plans for doing anything other than costing the poor Scots people £000,000's on poorly run government issues!
Lib Dems leader even more smirkier than KS and definetely have severe ,,,no ... super severe problems with their budgeting
Labour... hard to make a case as they piled in on the tory "manifest" when they saw the chance after the demise of Boris to Liz truss
Tories .. usually hands tied when they get back in by masses of debt [ before you reply just check the fiscal situations on each hand over ] currently struggling with no support from other parties [ all wish to pick up up points ] .. should I choose to vote at present it would likely be the green party by default [ as an encouragement ] their policies are basically grass roots protective only doubt is could they run the economy!they

A million or more kids and their families are living in poverty in this country, but the lefties, the bent lawyers and the smug self serving charities still fight for the rights of illegal immigrants rather than British citizens

They should all hang their heads in shame

And some wonder why there's a housing shortage.

    Here's a clue.
600k turn up from abroad annually.
    It's not rocket science.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has ordered a review of low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) in England, saying that he is on the side of drivers.

He told the Sunday Telegraph he was supporting people to "use their cars to do all the things that matter to them".
His remarks form part of a sharpening debate on green policies following last week's by-elections.
LTNs aim to reduce traffic, in part by preventing drivers using quieter residential roads as through-routes.
Some research suggests they reduce localised pollution. But critics, including some Conservatives MPs, argue they harm the freedom of motorists and push traffic onto other roads, causing congestion.

If you have a set volumne of emissions coming from a certain number of cars, pushing them somewhere doesnt just move that volumne somewhere else . it actually multiplies it! as the number of vehicles then go slower because of the numbers and likely change down a gear higher rev's / more acceleration / starting stopping!. DOT OFTEN GIVE OUT FIGURES regarding vehicle emmissions ... viz travel at 20-30mph in built up areas you get lower MPG travel at 56 mph and get "best mpg" travell over 56 mph get reasonable MPG.
I KEEP MY OWN RECORDS!! Between refills usually 70+litres I can work out my MPG ... [ ACTUALLY MILES PER LITRE! ] Going to Scotland I usually get the best max speed fixed to 70mph and restricted over 110 miles to 50mph [Perth to Inverness but do 70 on short sections of Dual carriage way ] 450 miles going to Mendip/ short journeys I get the lowest usually about 15% .
    purpose of figures...
it represents about 10 litres of extra fuel into enviroment likely20 % ifa higher proportion is in towns etc 1 litre of diesel = about 2kg's of carbon [ chemical processes ]
so really better to keep cars going as they are ..not at 20mph but 30 mph and ensure routes are more able to handle traffic

At some point very VERY soon, a Government, not a Labour one obviously needs to stick two fingers up to the Lords, the charities any opposition, and the rest of the world, and say sorry, the country is now full
Anyone turning up won’t be given a hotel, spending money, an ex RAF base, a barge or even a marquee
They all need to be turned away unless rescued by us or if they come here with documentation proving who they are, from a country that’s at war or has famine etc
As for the rest, bye ! Instant deportation bar women and children

I hate to keep harping on about it, but if we had proper legal routes that processed people quickly and efficiently we could do just that. Then ANYONE that came illegally treat them as if they’d failed the asylum tests.

You know what a harpie is dont you ... just in case .. "the dreadful, winged messengers of Hades!" where harping on comes from!?
Not getting embroiled in this again .. but ........

The staffing needed to check and process the numbers in say a month or even 3 month's would be over 50,000 ..
anyone genuinely & realistically needing asylum has 3 path's go to, the embassy where they would hope to go whilst in their own country and file ...or first country they go to, and go to embassy and file ... get on a plane £1000 would be from anywhere in the world to country and go to embassy or border guards and file ... saving of £3000 on a boat trip and 9+ months getting here........
get on a boat and chances are you dont need to be ....so go home ........

    a decent idea in theory
    But
The Lawyers and charities that we fund would still do all they could to have open borders and allow anyone in, no matter who they are or where they are from
There are way too many obstructions for anything purposeful and constructive to be done a lot of the time, which are not what the majority of people want

The Government is effectively hamstrung over issues like this unless they take a stand and force the issue

I get that. But at present there really isn’t an alternative. There isn’t a way for legitimate asylum seekers to come here legally, I know the government says there is, but look at the numbers, there really isn’t.

If there was there’d be no reason to come illegally. We’d then have the moral high ground to deal with illegal migrants, as just that. Illegal.
