Wigan missed payment to their players on five separate occasions. Think he probably gave them the benefit of the doubt before deciding best to move.

Wigan have now missed payment on five separate occasions this season with the last failure back in March resulting in a points deduction. The three-point penalty from the English Football League effectively sealed relegation to League One.

I seem to remember a few occasions, but not sure of the details, not all the details are in the press either, and never sure how accurate the stories are.

Let's hope it's a keeper, not Bentley, or CH coming...................IF this happens.
    Morning RR

    I like your optimistic outlook.

Think Nige has put a decent squad together if Scott does go we should invest in goalkeeper-midfielder to replace Scott-A big explosive strong pacey NO9

Reckon we will finish higher than last season.

If we get the three you mention a top six finish is very possible.

Wolves dealt £25m Bristol City transfer blow after Julen Lopetegui admission
Bristol City will either have to keep Alex Scott or hope another club meets their £25m asking price for the talented teenager.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui admits they are struggling to afford transfer targets, which could rule them out of the race for Bristol City's Alex Scott.

Last week, Football Insider claimed that the Midlands club were 'close' to signing Scott, however a move to Molineux now looks unlikely, given they may not be able to compete financially with their Premier League rivals. Wolves are said to have had a bid of £20m with add-ons rejected, but as the Robins hold out for £25m for the 19-year-old, Wolves may have to accept defeat.
Their manager Lopetegui has had to just watch on as the club has sold some of their biggest stars, like Ruben Neves' move to Saudi Arabia, whilst Connor Coady moved down a division to Leicester City. Wolves are also clinging on to defender Max Kilman with both Napoli and Spurs interested, with the Italian club hoping that the price will drop. It was hoped by the ex-Real Madrid boss that Wolves could at least target Championship players and Scott was at their top of their list, but now that avenue looks to be closing on them also.

“I came here with a project and an idea to be able to save the team and be able to improve...[but] it was bad news for me,” Lopetegui told Spanish journalist Guillem Balague.

“I tried in the summer and this was Plan A. We went to Plan B, trying to think about cost-effective players, but it’s true we can’t develop this plan, too.
“I know the sporting director, Matt Hobbs, and the recruitment team have worked very hard to have a Plan A and a Plan B, but unfortunately we can’t develop these plans.
“We were excited by this new plan but now we don’t have this plan. It is not just for me but the sporting director also, a big disappointment.”

Despite the ongoing speculation, Scott remains a Bristol City player, and has been a model professional. He has delivered a string of good performances in pre-season, putting in some leading displays at the High Performance Centre, which has earned praise off of the opposition.

AFC Bournemouth are the other club who hold a strong interest in Scott, but are hopeful that City's £25m demands will be lowered or that there will be a workaround. The two clubs were able to thrash out a deal for Antoine Semenyo back in January that suited all parties, and there is a hope on the Cherries part that a compromise could be met.

Bournemouth have been busy in the transfer market and have spent fees on all their new arrivals with attacking midfielder Hamed Traore joining, along with Justin Kluivert, Romain Faivre, Milos Kerkez and Ionut Radu. Traore's arrival from Sassuolo means Scott would not be a guaranteed starter should he move to the Vitality Stadium, but that his age and his potential would fit in to the transfer strategy that is being built under Andoni Iraola.

Excellent news, maybe he will be here this season after all. ( I know it’s an attempt to make us panic and lower our asking price), but I’d be surprised if we do.

Just thinking what peaceful, well planned and organised days we are having, gone are the days of self seeking waffle, gut busting headlines, mass signings, big spending, amounting to a gain of 5 places in 4 .5 years despite massive extended contracts and huge wage bills leading to that well known debt mountain.

Thank god those days are gone, the club is on a sound footing, the fan base are in fine fettle, we know the Championship is going to be tough, Nige and his management team have the experience to prepare for it, they have all been there and have got the famous ol' t-shirt, the team is well prepared and a blend of youth, skill, experience, they are ready, I'm really am looking forwars to a top 10 position or more with confidence. Up the City!

I have t say it does feel like we’ve eventually moved on the players that needed to go. It’s taken a couple of seasons, but at last the remaining players seem to have the right attitude and work ethic.

Towards the end of last season, even if we lost it did feel like everyone had given their all. Obviously as fans we want to win, however if we believe the players have given everything, we can see what they’re trying to do tactically, and we can see progress, most will be relatively happy.

A large part of the enjoyment for me these last few years, has been seeing the young lads coming through from the academy and watching their progress. I firmly believe we must not buy too many players in and choke off this supply line. If, and when we change our manager we need to ensure we get someone who’s prepared to give the young lads a chance.

Always new when NP was manager the club was going to go forward.
If you remember he said year three was the year he wanted a crack at top six.
Well we are in good hands and the season looks like it could be very interesting indeed.
It seems Scott will start the season with us which is great in keeping one of our better players.
However if he does go then there will be big funds available to NP.
Get the three players we require then the opportunity is there to really push on.
