Transport for London (TfL) has announced that it will spend £9million of taxpayer’s money on an advertising campaign on London’s ultra-low emission zone (Ulez). As a Londoner I don't give a ****. The non-Londoners seem very upset about it. I'm sure that when the new Tory Mayor is elected (lol no chance) they'll stop being so bothered.
The Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) was originally introduced by Boris Johnson when he was Mayor of London but only covered a few boroughs in central London. So it is perhaps a bit rich for Conservatives to be complaining about Sadiq Khan as he has just expanded a bad idea. All the measures that were originally introduced in London such as the congestion charge were meant to reduce London traffic; however, traffic now moves more slowly in London than it did before the congestion charge was introduced. So really the congestion charge was just a stealth tax on the motorist. According to Sadiq, ULEZ impacts hardly any motorists because almost everyone is exempt. If that is the case then why bother with it at all? The only people that are being impacted appear to be the working poor, many of whom are stupid enough to vote for Sadiq. So really the ULEZ charge is just a stealth tax on the motorist. Massive amounts of revenue from the ULEZ charge remain unpaid as more and more people simply refuse to pay it. So the logic here appears to be spend load of money installing surveillance equipment, spend loads of money sending fines to offenders, spend loads of money chasing unpaid fines through the courts, make virtually no profit at all (as supposedly nobody is impacted) and then claim that the money is being spent on greener forms of transport. I am pretty sure that TfL is perpetually skint (Sadiq always begging the government for bailouts), so which sofa are they looking down the back of for £9m?
It's nice that Sadiq is bucking the trend & building more Men only spaces in Central London strictly excluding women & non Muslims of course . Yay diversity. #Maaaaaate
