What will be will be and all we can do is trust the blokes running the show and keep supporting as we’ve always done

Re dack a Blackburn fan has posted this on RTG

Blackburn Rovers supporter here. I thought you might like some kind of view from outside.

    1) Obviously, Dack's injury record is a worry, but the fact is that both long periods out were cause by unrelated, on-field impacts.
    2) He was never quick, so a reduction in pace is not really relevant.
    3) There was almost certainly more to his prolonged absence from the Rovers team last season than fitness.
    4) That might have something to do with a clash of personalities with Tomasson.
    5) Others have argued that it was more that he did not fit in with Tomasson's preferred style.
    6) If that's true, it looks like short-sightedness on the manager's part to me, because the whole point about Dack is the element of the unexpected he brings to any team. You don't have to have 11 formulaic players on the pitch.
    7) The fitness argument holds little water for me. He played almost the whole game against Blackpool on August 31, for which a local media site gave him 7/10, and commented that he looked almost back to his sharpest. He then trained with the team for another nine months (apart one minor strain), getting only sporadic appearances, despite being regularly included in the squad. Very difficult to swallow the idea that he was still struggling for fitness after all that time.
    8) When he came to Blackburn, he had a reputation as a bit of a loose cannon. That was quickly put to bed. He was an enthusiastic trainer, and was very well liked by other players, as well as fans.
    9) He had an excellent relationship with Mowbray, who he gave great credit to for understanding him and developing his game.
    10) He is best used in a free role in and on the edge of the box, but he also made a very good job of the No.10 position, when we had Danny Graham as the CF.
    11) What marks him out, I think, is vision. He recognises half-chances that other players don't see. He can give you the odd goal out of nothing, as well as regularly being in the right place for tap-ins.
    12) The two years out may, of course, have had some impact, but as a free agent, he does not represent a high-risk investment.
    13) I'm sure the salary-issue can be overcome. He made it clear, last season, that he was very disappointed to have got so little game-time.

Hope this helps. I'd love to see him do well again (except against us, of course!)

IF Dack is signing then he's obviously ticked all the boxes the club use to analyse and scout players.

Fans opinions may be right, may be biased, maybe even wrong, but the club deal in data and facts.

If we trust them to bring in young lads from around the world that we have never heard of then we have to trust them to bring in players we have heard of.

The way we are set up recruitment wise means there is no "managers mate" signings anymore

I’m happy to reserve judgment on dack until we’ve seen him in the flesh, I am concerned that he is the forward in before the next game Mowbray was referring too, striker is way more important right now than another 10

This is just a regurgitation of the other unsubstantiated reports with a little extra conjecture added for good measure. Think at the moment I will wait for the club to comment as there is a fair bit of scaremongering going on and it is all trying to get a reaction from the fan base.

Mowbray specifically said in one of his recent interviews that he wanted an experienced midfielder, he’s probably played a part in making this happen.

I’d be happy with Dack on a free, I can’t be the only one surely?

I try never to get too caught up in the hype surrounding younger players, too many disappointments over the years, but I have to say that Chris Rigg is the most exceptional talent I've ever known SAFC to have in his age group. He could be anything in 10 years time.

Exactly what I’d just come on to say. Everyone saying we’re getting him because Mowbray wants and knows him but Mowbray doesn’t have the input and influence to override a pretty robust recruitment system.

If it is Mowbray’s call and we are repealing the processes that have seen us do so well then I would say that’s a symptom of something far more problematic behind the scenes and I’d start to worry. Thankfully I can’t see that’s the case (not least for a player if Dack’s ceiling or for a coach they were supposedly considering replacing during the summer).

Incidentally, is it just Nixon that has reported this is happening? I’m not saying it’s not true and I know he has supposedly got good contacts in the North West but I was just interested if it’s been corroborated anywhere to merit the meltdown?

Well we had Alf Ramsey's Wingless Wonders, so why not Tony Mowbray's Strikerless Goal Scorers?

    Well, one fit striker.

It’s one more than we finished last season so strongly with depending on your views on Geldhardt’s natural/best position. I guess we’re an Amad down (but two centre halves up) though.

I think I’d rather we waited until the end of the window to get the best quality we can rather than just getting someone in for the sake of it this week.
