Burnley, you’re shopping at Waitrose now, not bloody Aldi. I’d like to buy a house for a million pounds but I wouldn’t offer £500k if that’s all I could afford. Embarrassing.
It is but not enough to buy Lavia because he's immensely talented and we only bought him last summer.
Nor sure chelsea fans on Twitter are any better are they? Think every single club has idiot fans on Twitter thinking every player and club should be pleased their club is in for them and should gladly accept any offer given because it’s the mighty xxxx
Burnley are obviously just chancing their arm, like Liverpool were with their opening offers. It’s not really surprising, I doubt they thought it would be accepted but it may persuade Tella to do something. Or us ti give them an acceptable figure, whether they choose to pay it or not remains to be seen
Literally Burnley can **** off. Taking the loan of the equation, this is a championship attacker who scored 17 goals (I think) in 35-odd games. There or thereabouts at least. On what planet, is a championship attacker who had a season like he did and was one of the best players in the league, only worth £9m? Absolutely laughable.
It’s another example of a club coming in with an offer about 50-60% of the “list price”. And it is the third one in quick succession. It taking the piss to be honest I know there is an element of negotiation in all deals but you don’t open with half of what the other club wants if you want a good faith negotiation. I know we haven’t accepted but it is getting a little silly now
Pretty insulting to a player they supposedly admire and respect. £15m is hardly unreasonable or an unusual valuation for an attacking player after a big season in the championship
Bottom line is they want to get the player as cheaply as possible, we want to get as much as possible. If we decide to sell we’ll meet somewhere inbetween, it’s not rocket science. I wouldn’t have much faith in our negotiators if we were going in with an opening bid of just under list price for our targets.
That’s not the point. Indeed your response is what other clubs want - us to drop to 75% of our (very reasonable) asking price. They want us to meet in the middle but that would be us getting ripped off. Now maybe it is just because our transfers aren’t publicised as much as other clubs and that we don’t have a lot of sway but I don’t recall many (if any) examples of us starting with a 50% offer. I don’t recall rumours of bids of 12m for Sulemana. Even when we were in for Gakpo and Ramos and apparently going to go to 35m there were not suggestions that our opening bids of 17.5m. Because we’d get nowhere
Just seen it mentioned on Saintsweb but you can’t even buy a player with no first team experience from Man City for 9m They spend 19m on a goalkeeper that has only played in league one. Attackers cost more than goalkeepers. Especially those who scored the goals that got you promoted
Not sure either will pay nore than £50m seeing as we've said that's his price. They'll both probably get bids accepted for c.£50m and it will be up to Lavia. Still, will be amusing if he ends up at Chelsea because Liverpoll wasted time with lowball offers.
