    Barcelona president Sandro Rosell says the Premier League needs to be cut by four teams to help the Champions League.

    Rosell, who is also vice president of the European Club Association (ECA), wants to play European games at weekends and to cut down on international fixtures.

    "We have to convince the Premier League to reduce to 16 [teams]," he said.

    "We could perhaps play Barcelona versus Manchester United on Saturdays."

    Rosell says such scheduling cannot happen while the leagues in England, Spain and Italy continue to have 20 clubs.

    "It's something all of them (the domestic leagues) would have to agree to," he said.

    "The objective of reducing from 20 to 16 teams is to give more space to our players.

    "Then, once the dates are liberated, these dates are not for the (national) federations.

    "The dates are for the clubs to organise friendly games or to increase the European competitions."

    Who do they think they are wanting to change a whole league system just for 4 teams (if that) a league.

    They can go and **** a donkey on one of their sewage filled beaches.

    Get rid of four teams from each of the three top leagues to help the poor big clubs that need to play two whole matches a week....my heart bleeds.

    How many making the seasons slightly longer and the players get less holidays, lets face it most of them will be able to holiday as much as they want after they've retired at 35.

    The CL needs reformatting, the group stages are boring these days and seem to just drag on and on, especially for some teams that manage to qualify and waste their remaining game(s) by putting put their reserve side.

    it more than likely got something more to do with they have massive debts and the once relaxed banks are getting nervous due to the state of the euro.was something a while back about real and barcas finances they owe millions but the banks have always helped them out.

    the pair of them would be ****ed instantly if that happened if it looks like happening in the future expect them to push for a European super league
