A liitle bit of good news ...

Just over £2m has been set aside to buy homes for Ukrainian refugees on the Isle of Wight.
The cash comes from the Homes for Ukraine grant, part of the government's £150m fund to support people who fled to the UK from Ukraine following Russia's invasion.
The majority of refugees on the island are living with host families.
The Isle of Wight Council said the move would not impact its ability to support local families and the homeless.
The money would help reduce the risk of Ukrainians becoming homeless as they try to find alternative places to live, said the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
No homes have been bought yet but the £2.2m could be used to support nine of the Ukrainian families who settled on the island .......

It might only help 9 families at a time, but I think there is an allowance they can [ all Ukrainian families ?] take on work so if the families get a good income from doing normal jobs they could pay rent? so Council could then buy another house for each of these families income.. so could in a year escalate to 18 houses! these families with a sound job and prospets paying tax etc might even want to find another rental property of even buy one so an extrafamily could move into vacated house and repeat the cycle???
£150m available so 70 other regions could do similar averaging out house prices bearing mind they are cash purchases! over 650 families could be housed .... not a lot from the total we took on but a start and for people who are willing to work!

    Typical response from red Ashton.
But quiet on crooked lawyers helping migrants fraudulently claim asylum.

The left and their supporters are doing everything to stop the government eradicating illegal migration.
    Asylum seekers fleeing persecution ?
    My rear end.

Forget the boats anyway it's minor details. The bloody government are content with 600k turning up every year, no wonder there's over 100k who live here that can't find homes.

With Starmer in charge next year -
    You ain't seen nothing yet.

    Well said

As for Mr Flip Flop, aka the man with no policies, who backed Corbyn, who wanted to rejoin the EU, couldn't tell the world what a woman was, and who believed in the self id gender nonsense that brought down Sturgeon, and who changes his mind every few minutes, along with his worthy cronies, then literally heaven help us.

But like most lefties they will scream and hold their breath if you disagree with them, whilst calling you a Nazi and 'far right'.

The country and its major institutions, including the NHS, who last year paid out £2.1bn in settling lawsuits for malpractice, whilst always crying that they don't have enough money, need to be reset to eradicate the sort of cancer that Nat West had within it's own self importance and playing God.

The country doesn't need a Labour government, in fact it needs the polar opposite, but barring a miracle it will still get one.

3000 cars doomed because the liklihood of one of the 25 electriccars on board caught fire ... a while back 4000 cars were lost off the azores ... lithium ion batteries are very high capacity and safer than in the 90's early 2000's when many caught fire whilst being charged! recommendation then was place battery in a pyrex dish put dish on a plate as insulation against flammable surface! The problem is being high storage they have have energy so burn rapidly and hot ...youve seen
many scooter pics on charge I suspect . the heat is immense.
dousing with water can be dangerous! .. infact can cause an explosion! some temperatures of L ION batteries will reach 2000 centigrade enough too melt all metals around it .... these have the highest melting points
    Carbon Steel 2,500-2,800 1,371-1,593 Nickel 2,647 1,453 Wrought Iron 2,700-2,900 1,482-1,593 Stainless Steel 2,750 1,510 Titanium 3,040 1,670 ...........

how safe are EV' s if involved in a RTA ONE WONDERS!!

A burning ship polluting the atmosphere with poisonous gas from the batteries in electric cars and potentially damaging a designated conservation area of the ocean is the perfect illustration of why I don't ever want an electric vehicle

I probably will never get to the stage where I will be victim of only travelling 200 miles before topping up! that would be 4 times to get me there then twice to stay there for 2 weeks then 4 times to get back home!
I currently travel partly overnite, leave about midday and fuel up in Perth or Inverness [where we shop for up to 2 HOURS BUYING SUPPLIES IN A TESCO, on my own usually about an hour! ] homeward refuel at Perth or Carlisle [ 10mins ] do whole 630 miles in one go ............
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE UP A EV???

I watched the programme on BBC last night about EVs, part 2 on tonight if interested.
The UK is miles away from China with battery production sites and quite a bit away from the USA and even Germany and France.
They have all had huge government backing whereas we pretty much screwed British Volt into liquidation.
Think our government is now putting £500million into the Jaguar/LandRover site in Somerset. That's a lot of dosh but nothing compared to other governments in the rest of the world.
The government needs to put up or shut up and decide either to back electric, ie sort the infrastructure, or not.

The record-breaking UK heat experienced in 2022 will be regarded as a cool year by the end of this century, the Met Office says.
Its report shows that last year was "extraordinary", with a heatwave pushing the UK record over 40C for the first time.
Hot years like 2022 will be the average by 2060, if carbon emissions are as expected, the authors say.
By 2100, it would be a cooler-than-average year across the UK.
Climate change is having an increasing impact on all parts of the UK, playing a key role in pushing last year's temperatures to record highs.

DRINKING WATER FOR 2 million + people OH and sanitation as well! ... plus evaporation! ............annually!

When we say the world has lost the plot what exactly should the plot be?
Migration is the key ... noy immigration or illegal immigration ... plain old migration. In the begining we had HOMO SAPIENS [ from some scientific analysis angles ] develop and migrate from Africa ..... etc etc etc.
Back then the world was a paradise ready to accomodate them [ and eventually us ]
Death Valley, Sahara desert, Gobi Desert etc [ the worlds DESERT BELT ] shows the world in decades to come! One scientific paper staed that the worlds population at 5bn would be enough! We are now over 8 bn and India is running riot as leaders .. followed by China

compare this to land mass China is about 60% size of Russia and India about 18% [ about 30% size of China! take the population..... Russia around 145,ooo,000 China around 1, 430,000,000 but India is around 1,480,000,000!

notes These 3 are 2nd 3rd or 4th land wise and with water inland [ India has extra 9,6% of water! ..Himalaya's? ]
    2nd Canada 9,984,670 [ water area ] 8.9 % ] population 40,000,000
    3rd/ 4th China 9,596,961 [ water area 2.8 % ]
    3rd 4th United States 9,833,517 [ 7.0% ] pop 342,000,000

AFRICAN CONTINENT has high populations in small landmasses with very little water in some and the migration from there is still a major factor. A lot of countries have failed to keep up, those that do fall / fallen foul of coup's that lead to dictators that do not have a clue as in the main ex military! When they destroyed / allowed their country to be destroyed they migrate ... north of the tropic of Cancer, to where the first paragraph in blue highlights the concerns we have to negotiate with resources and populations we already have [ EUROPE as a whole ].
OUR problem will not be hot summers but hot summers with an excessive population with little water less than now TO COMBAT IT WITH.

The plot must surely be reduce the population! .... stop un needed migration which is the catalyst to disaster?

The British Met Office can't even accurately predict the weather for today and tomorrow let alone what it will be like in the future !
They are the only institution who regularly fail at their job and who aren't taken to task about their performance.

Most western civilisations currently have significantly falling birth rates. I think it's a reproductive rate of 2.1 to maintain existing population levels ?

South Korea currently has a reproduction rate of just 0.8 and at current rates their whole society will cease to exist in a 100 or so years. Japan is the same, and older people there will have no one to care for them very soon and ritual suicide has even been discussed.

We aren't much better off here, as more and more couple choose not to have children for economic or personal reasons, and more people live alone, or in same sex couples sans children.

As for water, the Government should nationalise the water companies, prevent another abomination like Thames Water being £14bn in debt, stop the fat cat shareholders, build some new reservoirs and stop our population explosion of people coming from outside of the UK who in turn are reproducing more than the indigenous inhabitants, namely us and taking a proportion of the available water.

We should never, ever be short of water in this country with the huge amount of rainfall we get.

The populations that need reducing are the African, Asian and Middle Eastern ones where cultural and religious beliefs play their part.

China had a one child policy for a number of years it worked in so much as it also had a darkside if the family wanted a boy and it was a girl it was "abandoned " somehere along the way either aborted or !!!! HAD THIS NOT BEEN THE CASE then the population of China may have exceed 2bn! now!

Humanity ..what is it? .. a path to forever progress or a path to ruination?
With all the wokies and do gooders and PC's and "human rights activists" I am slowly getting into the opinion of "its ruination".

To overload the systems with excesses [ migrants / lack of birth control / taking away ability to grow food etc ] there is less and less to go around so there will be massive suffering ... hunger ...poverty .... fighting [ wars even ] civil unrest and a planet that is getting hotter and hotter as more energy needed to feed the failing planet masses as it goes into melt down .....
THE OCEANS ARE CURRENTLY more toxic than they were 1000 years ago and fish a staple diet for some will , and is already failing in numbers, and because of the over fishing tonnages are droppinh massively as the catch is likely just fish that are 2 maybe 3 years old ...
COD used to be 40 + lbs and the trawler only needed to catch a few hundred now they need to catch a few Thousand to to make the tonnage so masses of breeding stock lost to regenerate ..............

A ps ABOUT THE WEATHER FORCASTERS! Angelic from time to they do get it wrong, the met, I actually follow as a interest in getting things right and wrong 4 major world forcasters and the Dundee sat site to make my own "forcast"

The one I most rely on is ACCU weather it has been amazingly accurate at times .. one instance on my Tuesday sorties I wouldnt send any trugs underground to be filled as they requested.. accu weather said heavy rain at 2105 we would usually be packing up and getting changed about then outside in the dark on a muddy patch! we got to the pub at 2110 just as the spots of rain turned into a deluge ... for about 20 mins or so! ...still had to pay for my own beer though ..........lol

I know we live on an island and it's not a massive land mass like central Europe or the USA or Canada, but the Met Office are pretty poor unless we're under massive belts of high or low pressure.
If it's forecast to rain and it does, then fair enough. But when they say it won't rain and I'm halfway through jobs such as staining the garden fence, washing the car or cleaning the windows of the house, I'm not impressed.

They were asking for billions of pounds a few years ago to buy a super computer to make their forecasting more accurate.

They'd be better off hanging up a piece of dried seaweed to forecast the weather like they did back in my Grandmothers day, and keeping the money !
