There is below the asking price and then there is what we are finding this summer. Allegedly Newcastles opening bid for Livramento was £12m for example, a player we value at around £30m+ if reports are to go by. If I were to make an offer down on a 380k house, I might offer £360k initially, I wouldn’t offer £130k. Either way I already said I’d expect some negotiation, it’s the extent of the lowballing that is irritating… not that clubs are trying to get a favourable deal full stop. And I agree that Saints will have engaged in hard negotiation in the past, but I’m fairly confident we have a more ethical transfer policy than Newcastle, the Mara transfer last season was proof of that. Just to double down on the housing analogy, none of ours are on the market anyway but we are open to offers if someone wants to pay an amount that suits us.
