Sunderland Football Club are lining up a bid for Hugo Rodallega.

Steve Bruce is eager to add to his attacking options in the New Year, and he is a huge admirer of Rodallega, who he signed for Wigan Athletic in 2009.

Rodallega is out of contract at the DW Stadium in the summer, and unless he pens a new deal, the Latics could be forced to listen to offers in January.

And it is believed Bruce has identified the 26-year-old for a move to the Stadium of Light, and will offer his former club £5million for his signature.

Zurich striker to snub Sunderland for Liverpool move

    By Bryan Waters
    Tuesday 15 November 2011

FC Zurich striker Admir Mehmedi could make a move to Liverpool in the January transfer window and snub advances from Sunderland.

The 20 year old has scored 13 goals in 47 matches for the Swiss side and has been targeted by Sunderland boss Steve Bruce for a January signing. Liverpool are looking to snatch Mehmedi away from Sunderland, just like the Black Cats took striker Connor Wickham off the toes of the Reds back in the summer.

Zurich are not prepared to sell Mehmedi cheap and Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners for the signature of the Swiss international. German side Nuremberg are also interested and their manager Dieter Hecking has spoken of his interest in the 20 year old.

I'm not that keen tbh, but at that price he may well be worth a punt.

I posted an article the other day saying Rodalega and Figroll are both out of contract and IMO we should bring them both in Figroll to offer competetion to Richardson at left back and Rod to strengthen the group of strikers.

I like Rodallega and think he would do well for us either as a lone striker or playing with a big man

as for the swiss lad never heard of him

ROG, not convinced on the money side, also may start a bidding war at that price, and good old Brucie, will cost us more in the long run. hope you are well.

Is it me or does he blow hot and cold though?

I do like the picture on your profile

  13. Rodellega averages 8/9 goals a season

I think you should on start Wickham, you spent 13m on the lad and he came to your club expecting to get matches to help him improve. He just scored for you against the Vile, a decent little finish.

How would he feel if you buy another striker over him?

    Give Wickham the games!

Evening Billy. Tend to agree with the first bit but haven't we taken enough punts already. We NEED someone who can put a least a dozen in the old onion bag between January & the end of the season to ensure safety. Then hopefully the current ones will pick up the slack.
Dear I say it but if it was possible we need someone with the talent of a DB but with morals if such a person exists.

Doesn't and hasn't scored enough goals in PL, 8 or 9 a season is pants for a striker leave him be. We should be looking at someone who can score double figures regularly 15 to 20 a season should be the target. Bruces track record with his ex Wigan players isn't great Bramble a disaster from that game and Catts flits in and out between good and crap, just can't see it being any different with Rodellega.

If we can get him for a bargain, great, it would strengthen what we have already. Hopefully by Jan, Ji and Wickham will be firing on all cylinders, and Campbell will be starting to regain some form.

I agree, Rodaellga has never been on my list of signings because he has always looked totally disinterested whenever I've seen him play and it would appear that his goalscoring record is not that great. Heavy Metal Toon is right, we should give Whickham every chance to prove himself.

Oh, the lass with her legs open?

That was taken at Cheltenham races marra. Just wish I was facing her as she had no knickers on that day.

Look at the copper, I think he's looking for his truncheon.

    That's NOT my Jane btw.
