Brentford started their model of buying young talent and selling them for high fees while in the championship.

 

What is your problem? So negative and so against anything the club does to try and move forward. Do you not get bored?

 

Why do you think they are Premier League clubs? Brentford, in particular, did exactly what the poster was saying and it gained them promotion, selling their best players year on year and reinvesting and upgrading with the funds received.

They were willing/able to pay the wages (which we are anyway) because of the funds they received from selling players.

 

Maybe being thick but how do we know its LND not signing? It could be the club putting it on hold till he proves some sort of fitness. Was a bad injury after all which could affect him. We play a high press intense style which he may struggle with

 

Not if you have superb processes and infrastructure in place that allow you to consistently identify and develop the right players. You know, the sort of processes and infrastructure that saw us bring in the likes of Clarke and our other best players in the first place.

 

Brentford used the fees from Watkins and Behrama to build a team that went up and has looked every bit a Premier League side since.

Behrama was, or appeared to be, the absolute heartbeat of that team.

Admittedly Toney was up for grabs and we won’t see many of that standard not heading to PL already.

 

Wont let them all go at once. One big bid for one of them would be enough for the model to work

 

We're not really disagreeing, we're just starting from different points on what we consider his value to be. I genuinely think in the market as it is and all other factors (contract length, age etc) considered that he's worth over £20m. So I agree, there'll be a compromise to be had when/if Clarke starts getting aggitated or we need the sale to fund other business but I still see that as ending up well north of £15m. Or at least I think it should be.

 

I don't have much of a view on him but he's posted some real nonsense, repeated rumours as fact and has a chip on his shoulder with the club.

No one but the Clarke, or the club, is able to dispute this £10m story so he can't be proved wrong ...

... the club may well allow him to go for that fee but they're entitled to see what other offers come in and not just jump when Burnley says jump.

 

Highly doubt anybody will be sold unless our valuation is met. The days of Madrox selling anyone or anything for peanuts has long gone. Also remember speakman saying if a player is sold then that money will be spent on an improvement

 

I said a little while ago that imo, once Burnley or anyone else for that matter start putting bids in the low teens for a base number, serious conversions will start. It's been said above that our club is a path to the Premier league for some players. I've said it myself long ago "why would X player go to Y club, in this case Burnley? simple fact is they're a Premier league club and we are not. Players careers are short. Add to that it's even more of a shop window to other Premier leauge club to get a better move. In short, imo, a bid will come in that we won't turn down for Clarke, hope I'm wrong like.

Worst case scenario, wingers aren’t that difficult to find. Could argue one of the easier positions to fill.

Most clubs have a few of them.

 

It would be suicide to do it! There's no way we are flogging all three of them and then another 2/3 on top. We'd just undo all of the hard work we've done at the start of the window getting players in early to have then start building the squad again.

I think he’ll probably go. I think Brentford, Palace are good moves for him. Burnley less so because they are more likely to fail being a newly promoted club.

Selling players then reinvesting that money into improving squad and team means you are better. Brighton n brentford are the best examples but burnley did that last season, sold a couple of their best players then reinvested to improve the squad

 

What has he got correct recently, he just seems to post rumours
