So pretty much what we all heard 2 weeks ago. Player is happy to stay and won't force a move if that is what the club want. Saints will only sell if we get an offer we deem too good to reject, which is (and always will be) true for all our players.
Oh I know, and it was, but it will sadly reflect the opinions of some of our more hard of thinking fanbase.
Newly big bully Newcastle are clearly trying to unsettle Tino, and pull a fast one on Saints. What a despicable club they have become! To think I used to have a soft spot for them years ago.
I think it may be more a case of Newcastle knowing that all clubs are aware they have loads of money and don’t want to pay over the odds for a player against Saint’s position of not wanting relegation to mean that premier league clubs can plunder players at a reduced cost.
Maybe, but one of the reasons I thought Tino would likely stay this summer is that we aren’t going to sell him cheap, we don’t need to. And is a club going to want to spend a fair wedge on a player who may not be the player he was pre long term injury? Only if they have a stupid amount of money which Newcastle do, and are happy to potentially spend it on a player who could easily never make it at that level now post injury. Well to be fair to Newcastle, they’ve not been throwing money around Willy nilly so maybe not. Which is why it makes sense for clubs to wait until January imo. It’s a risk for us too if he proves not the same player as we won’t get the money so it’s a tricky one. So long as we sell Lavia for a big profit, you’d think we’re probably willing to take the risk and keep Tino unless a club comes in with a bid too good to turn down. A £14m profit is decent but nothing special and nothing compared to what it could be should be prove to be as talented as pre-injury Tino.
We don't actually know what has gone on between the clubs. Most of the reports about this Tino deal are coming from Newcastle fan-run websites. One of them puts out a rumour, and then it seems to spread like wildfire, and before you know it the BBC decide to put it on their rumours page etc.
There was rumours that we could loan him for the season with the plan of him coming back if we get promoted?
They can both bugger off as far as I'm concerned. I do like this new Saints stance of not being bullied into lowball fees though. I hope it continues.
Well there is no way we would accept a lower fee than we paid. And we will have to pay a loyalty bonus to sale him and paid a signing on fee. So I’d like to think the minimum we would accept would be fee paid + those two
Yeah I'm very impressed so far. But then again, it's one thing refusing to be bullied on 22 July. It's another thing to still be refusing come 31 August,
