We can debate all we want about where he should spend next season, but the facts are that he’s our only winger who has scored, and the only one who has looked consistently like scoring for the time he’s on the pitch. Rosenior can see that, Tan can see that. Whether we persist with the ever underwhelming Longman and Allahyar instead is upto Rosenior
He plays with a lot of passion and was great in the ukrainian league pre war which is no walk in the park. He just needs time still young but looks promising im also a fan of vaughn longman not so much
For some perspective on Jarvis, at the same age Longman had just signed for us and was coming off a very good season in L1. Longman is going through a tough spell, but there's still a very decent player in there
I’m sure Rosie knows what he’s going to do with Jarvis, whether he’s putting him on the window for a loan/sale or whether he sees that he’s a decent player & is part of his 20 man match day squad, let’s leave it to him. We still don’t know what the situation is with Sinik. As for Tan getting involved in talking about players, I hope it’s purely as a salesman,& not someone who’s got anything to do with influencing who plays & who doesn’t.
There is no evidence that Rosenior is planning to use him in the first team. You're excited about the idea of a young player breaking through which is understandable but it's based on very little. Listen to Rosenior's comments about him the other night, he made it pretty clear he has a lot to improve on before he's in the first team equation. Allahyar and Longman as our best options leaves us weak on the wings, yes, but that's why we're signing two more wingers and also playing Vaughan there. Jarvis is not overtaking all of these players because he scored two goals in pre-season. In fact he'll probably be the one to get less pre-season minutes when Traore and Lokilo are ready to play. None of that is a criticism of him, it's just the reality of his status in the squad and how many senior players we have and are signing in his position.
I’ve watched the lad a lot and now what he’s capable of, it will soon become common knowledge, we’ve seen how fast players can improve under Rosenior and it won’t be any different here. It’s on record as Chazz can confirm that he was shafted by the club in terms of going out on loan last season, for the sake of a pointless u21 playoff push despite interest in him.
If he had anything about him, wouldn't he have been in and around the first team last season as we had no wingers and the last few months of the season was essentially a dead rubber He had a good half against a wingback that's really only ever played regularly in Ireland and hasn't done much in any of the other pre season games.
Longman isn’t crap but he’s not really kicked on or progressed since we took him on permanently. Probably the opposite. Still shows flashes here and there that he can be a good player and at the time we signed him he seemed like a steal at £700k. This season will be make or break for him at City, I think if he’s not staking his claim to be in the first 11 by January then he will drop out the fold and probably move on either then or next summer. All of our attacking players have struggled though so maybe in a stronger, more balanced and better drilled side he will flourish along with others.
Nice way to admit you haven’t watched the other games You were raving about Vaughan’s “frightening” progress for his performance against Barnsley’s youth team players.
As far as I'm aware, the plan is for Jarvis to head out on loan if the correct club for his development is found
Because he was planning on leaving, the club offered him a new deal, he didn’t take it, hence the option taken. Connor Sellars is a massive ****er
I said a long time ago he needs to vary his game more to give the full back something to think about. The best thing to improve his game is to go both inside and out not the same way all the time. Some pointed out that this player doesn’t do bad ect going the same way all the time but for me you have to be an exceptional player to get away with it. It will make a huge difference to his game if he varied it more so I hope it’s been pointed out to him and he as worked on it.
You may well have watched him a lot and it seems from your posts like you might have some sort of closeness to some players in the U23 setup, but that tells you nothing about a player's suitability for the first team. You're right about players improving quickly, but it's the exception rather than the norm and there's no reason other than hope to believe that Jarvis will follow the same trajectory as Vaughan, KLP or Bowen as opposed to the countless others who end up released without ever making an impact on the first team.
Trajectory as Vaughan? He’s made 6 first team appearances where he looked comfortable. Let’s calm down a little bit, I think the lads going to have a breakthrough season let’s pull back a bit.
I just don't think he has the explosive turn of pace or agility to beat players, which limits his game. He's often good in away games when we're attacking on the break and he has a bit of space to hit the byline and cross it, but against a deep defence as they often are in home games he's easily shut out. But the thing is he's always available and reliable, and people underestimate the importance of that. All last season we had better wingers than him in the squad but he played as much as anyone. Hopefully injuries play less of a part this season and we have more options, but part of me still wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting the first game because of a combination of players being unavailable or not having enough pre-season minutes in them.
