26 minutes played in last year probably had quite a significant factor in fee paid, selling him etc? Had set backs from initial injury, but only time will tell. Hope the club have put a sell on as a bit of a softener.
Yeah, it's never been about removing the Athletic paywall for me. Their writers largely are good (albeit not now on the teams I support), and the quality of the output is far higher than the industry average. My background is in journalism, so I am quite happy to pay if it contributes towards a decent salary and helping them take the time to resource good stories rather than having battery chicken farm writers like Daily Star and Metro where they're told they must write 20 articles a day.
Agreed with the consensus that it's a shame to lose Tino. He said he would like to stay and I doubt he's changed his mind on that front. Sometimes these deals just end up being mutual ... - Tino is happy to stay but at the same time has been offered a great chance at Newcastle - Saints don't want to sell but ultimately the money has reached a level where, on balance, it would be a bit silly not to accept - Ultimately the above two combined mean the deal happens. If it were a lower PL club and with less money, it wouldn't happen
I think if people actually read the **** in the Star, Mail etc, they should be lined up against the Paywall and shot.
Maybe a work permit thing? I know he played in Italy first (think he has/had dual nationality), but maybe he hasn’t now?
On the face of it with £30m I agree, but ultimately £18m with an unidentified chunk locked behind clauses, I am slightly unsure we are getting a great deal there when Livramento could be worth far more next season, although equally he may turn out to have been impacted long term by his ACL injury (I dont think he will though). I guess it is a balancing act though and we have Bree and KWP (for now).
Ffs. The prospect of losing Livramento and having Lyanco sent back to us is not a nice one to ponder.
Could be. Perhaps they're waiting for confirmation that he's the missing link which would bring into question his eligibility under FIFA regulations.
