Mane supposedly in talks with Al-Nassr despite the fact they currently can't register players. If it happens though, I wonder if that'll speed up Bayern's pursuit for Kane? Mane's on a huge wage there and if Bayern get a fee too, then that's a fair chunk of wages and money that can go on offer to Kane and us. I'd personally reject any offer of course but I do think the club's gonna cash in this summer, to lose someone like Kane in a year's time who's still well in their prime for free won't look good on the club.
Ally Gold’s also said Kane won’t sign a new deal this summer though remains open to doing so throughout the season depending on the progress under Ange. No pressure, Ange! I’m more than happy to take the risk of doing that though, one more season (at least) of Kane is better than spunking his sale money on someone that won’t be as good, though that person may already be at Spurs which means I’m definitely happy to take the risk of one more season with Kane and hoping he extends.
Me too. let him go for free if he wants to in a year. Especially if we don’t look like we’ve made any progress and a trophy seems like it’s still miles away. Like you say, You can bet that even if we sell him, we won’t replace him adequately, and another year from him is guaranteed goals.
He was never going to re-sign a contract this summer anyway. It would be madness too, he holds most of the cards now. Imagine there won’t be any movement on it until January at least. Hopefully we’re smashing it and convince him to re-sign towards the end of the season.
I say we should sell him now. We can get £80m for him now and there’s no way another season with Kane will be worth losing £80m.
CB Watch Dean Jones (aka Alasdair Gold's understudy) claims that we're looking to sign Clement Lenglet in addition to two CBs this summer Or course, now we're going to pore over the wording to see if that means Tapsoba & van de Ven or Tapsoba & Ashley Phillips or...
So Kane is basically throwing down the gauntlet to Levy, fix our squad, give us the tools and make it competitive or I`ll be going for free next summer. You can`t blame him really, he must look at our cowboy defense and laugh like the rest of us.
TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Real Betis are offering €7m for Davinson Sanchez, while the Heet van der Herdgang podcast suggests PSV as another destination Certainly a step up from Strasbourg, Galatasaray and Spartak Moscow
This is without question the best possible idea. I've said it for months. The spectre of Kane leaving for free at the end of another disappointing season is possibly the only thing that will compel Levy to properly back the manager. £80m, £100m, it's irrelevant if the manager either isn't trusted to spend it or is forced to spend it on cheap alternatives to his main targets. Kane signing a new contract now gives Levy another few years of using his quality and bond with the fans as a riot shield behind which he can hide. I even think Kane should go public with this. He did that stupid interview with Neville so this is far less controversial. Just release a statement that makes clear: I would love to sign a new deal and commit the remainder of my best years to the club I love, but only if I see signs of serious progress on all fronts. That is totally fair enough and not a single fan would begrudge him it. And it would place the gauntlet firmly on Levy's lap to deliver.
Qualifying for the CL is worth around £20m already even without progression to the ko stages. With Kane and a competent manager, the chances of that happening increase significantly. Add in commercial revenue and sponsorship and I wouldn't be surprised if you're halfway there. And if we can afford to gamble £45m on Tanguy Ndombele without it bankrupting the club, we can afford to gamble the equivalent on one of the best players in our history staying beyond next year.
Some bloke with a Patreon named Alan Nixon says Ashley Phillips might fall through because it turns out Phillips' £2m release clause we paid doesn't exist, and Blackburn want £5m + addons Okay, the first issue is the fee bandied about by Romano et al was £3m, and I don't recall any mention of a release clause at all...
The season will be over fast enough and then we will see him go and join a prem rival and that will hurt more than selling him this summer let’s sell him and move on
Losing him will hurt regardless. Keeping him gives Spurs higher chances of any form of success and the small possibility of him staying if Ange does well. Selling him now will just weaken us a year earlier.
You’re always crazy optimistic about these things lol Sell him and give Ange a long term striker to work with…him staying just slows down Ange’s re build imo. You’ll be pissed when you see him in a United/Pool/Chelsea shirt
What long term striker is on the market though? Anyone even half decent is at a bigger or equal club. Then there’s also the risk of if we make another Richarlison type signing, or a Soldado or a Janssen, then we’ll have just sold our best ever striker and replaced him with a dud. Keeping Kane for the season gives Ange the best possible chance of a good season.
From what i see he want's his next/first move to be to a team with gauranteed trophy's so those three are out at the mo. Levy ****ed his chances with City (closest thing to a gaurantee in England) so they went and got Haaland, that's why his prefered choice seems to be Bayern at the moment. I had Harry down as a home loving lad who would never go abroad but i suppose at his age he's desperate to make his career relevant so is prepared to go to Germany to achieve that.
If we sign a dud replacement it won’t be due to the timing of his sale…it’ll be due to the hierarchy and they will be here next season anyway. We are not replacing Kane…we have to take a different path…id rather we have some money to help sign a replacement as oppose to no money to sign a replacement since that’s how we roll as a club.
