It's not a lot of fun being a fan who is pissed off most of the time.

How have the owners done well? They’ve spent (and lost) millions

It’s the nature of the beast as has been said lots of times before. Any player who attracts interest from a team better than us will 99% of the time want to leave, like we can attract players from teams lower down the food chain than us.

I don't think Dragan Solak needed to buy Saints for £180m, spend £160m on transfers, spend more money on facilities and other business operating costs, to then see his club get relegated and take a huge, huge hit to its revenue and then sell Tino Livramento for £30m, all just to make some money. <laugh>

Exactly. The only difference in this model is that we'll actually have players the big clubs will target. Our lack of big sales in recent years didn't speak to our deft ability to keep Liverpool from tapping up Mo Elyounoussi.

Yeah it means we will see some exciting players hopefully if only for a couple of years. We won’t win anything of any note but neither will the vast majority of teams

We didn't have this luxury under Gao as we needed to sell and clubs knew it. At least we should get more than fair fees for any players that leave.

Definately. I reckon if we bring in about 20/23 Million for a player that hasn't played in a long while is good business.
Salisu hopefully will go for £20 Million too which seems bonkers.

Why did he buy the club? Long standing love of English football? Particular affinity with the city? Or did he buy it to implement his buy young sell on masterplan to make £££££

Why does anyone buy a football club? It's a vanity project in almost all cases.

Has any owner ever made money buying a top flight football club? It’s a crazy decision for anyone from a financial perspective

Clubs are toys for the super rich, money is not the objective for them. They can make money in other avenues (as they have proven by, you know, being super rich)

Fans need to wake up. We’re now a Championship Club. The policy of buying young players does at least have its benefits when something like relegation happens, that they still have decent sell on values, and with the club having a backer like Dragan, it means that we won’t be selling at give away prices.
Both Leeds and Leicester have already sold most of their saleable assets, whereas we. An take a bit more time to maximise the prices as we’re not as desperate to get the money in.

Yes SR have made many mistakes, and I think they’re aware of the pressures from the fans especially this season coming. For me personally I’ve been quite happy and impressed to how they are re structuring this of season, but only time will tell.

Lets see where we are come the end of August when the transfer window has shut.

Possibly with a side salad of spite, given his longstanding fights with the Serbian government.

If he was buying us to spite someone, then that is the sort of pettiness I can get behind <laugh>

Serbian government tried to squeeze him out of the media market by massively overpaying (with government money) for the PL TV rights, because he's a critic (as he should be, Serbian government suuuuuuucks). So he bought a PL team as a **** you:

Nah. It’s to write off taxes.

They actually don’t mind running them at a loss as it means they can lower their overall tax burden. That’s why a lot of billionaires do it

Which of course them meant the Serbian government had to pay him, as an owner of a team, part of their overpriced pitch. It really rather brilliant.

Yup. Suspect it's also a contributing factor to his higher-than-average visibility in the owner's box this year (especially given that the viewing wasn't great).
