He`s young (22), playing out of his skin for Wales, and can`t get a game. I demand that he is playing Saturday, and the team is built around him, he has class. Don`t let him go!
The only time people see him playing at the moment is for Wales and with Malky saying "...there are people still to leave the club, the lads who canât get football here", I don't think it'll be too long before the phone starts to ring... if it hasn't already. I noticed he wants 'show-down' talks with Malky. Just hope a few decent International games hasn't inflated his ego. He wants to be playing week-in, week-out (rightly so) but there is a reason he isn't and though I don't know exactly what that is, nobody can really complain with where we are at the moment.
Trouble is our defense is quite solid at the moment but maybe a bit more rotation would help it even more, don't forget this team is still learning how to gel, one thing for sure, even now he's a Wales regular and playing really well, unless he plays in the league we won't see a good price for him should he decide to move on, personally I hope he gets his chance and stays with us.
I was thinking more of a loan (although someone would need to act fast) Wouldn't like to see him sold.
H I don't think he wants "show down" talks judging by the tone of the interview, I just think he wants reassuring that he has a future at the club, a couple of starts would do the trick..........the one good thing about it is D'arcy doesn't have an agent (yet), he's one for the future and this is where MM has to earn his corn and keep players happy and on board
Fair comment - my schoolboy error quoting WoL http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...ardiff-city-boss-malky-mackay-91466-29774851/
His flexibility is our benefit and his curse. He looks to be growing as a centreback but can cover the full backs as well. He'll be a key player for us given what I've said above and should make the bench as a minimum. Ship on Naylor, Gypes and Keinan keeping Gerrard, Blake and Quinn to cover the back 4.
I'm a big fan of Darcy but find hard to find a place for him with the back 4 doing so well at the moment. I think he should be on the bench if not in the team every game because he can cover so many positions. I'd keep K9, Blake & Quinn and let Naylor, Gypes & Gerrard go.
Rhondda, interesting choice, keep K9 and shipout Gezza. Not sure about that one unless Gezza is a dissenting voice in the changing room. Personally I'd keep them both but move on Gyepes, Naylor and Parkin. Mind you Nayls has done okay in the Carling and it may be better to have 2 left footed lb's - accepting that Darcy and McNuggs can do a job there as well. I see from another thread that Farrah is going out on loan. Jarvis is at Newport, Wildig at Shrewsbury and the only youngsters we don't hear of are Alex Evans and Jon Meades. Evans has played and been sub in Carling squads bit Meades has been nowhere with Ralls getting deserved opportunities. I don't think Jarvis, Wildig, Evans and Meades will make it at first team level so perhaps we should be looking to sell (or release if no money on the table) rather than loan, come January.
BfB I must admit I'm a fan of K9, to me Gezza makes too many silly mistakes and is always close to another yellow card, he wears his heart on his sleeve but a bit to rash for my liking.
With Blue....let Gabor go and keep Darcy, K9, and Gezza. Would keep Naylor as he seems to be playing better this year and we may need him if injuries crop up!
Problem is we cant just let them go. Doubt anyone will come close to matching their wages. If Ben Turner get a Wales call up Darcy wont be in the Welsh side for much longer either. Reckon Darcy will eventually take Hudsons place.
Darcy instead of Hudson would be a good option Hilts. Darcy is good in the air, but not as commanding as Hudson. What he does bring though is a bit more pace. It was mooted the season before last it should have been which of Hudson or Gerrard partners Darcy. Hudson and Turner seem too similar. Perhaps MM has Turner as his first choice, but didn't want to change both CBs at the same time. A few more games for Turner may see the demise of Hudson. It should be one ore the other, but not both.
I've always thought our cb's could be more "horses for courses". If 2 big strikers like Cov will probably play next Tuesday then Hudson and Turner/Gezza are you men but if smaller nippy little sods (like Brighton) then more pace needed not height and Darcy steps in - remember the 0 - 0 at Forest 2 seasons ago when Darcy and Gezza were throwing themselves at everything that moved (as well as Gezza throwing his fist at Marshall - point taken Rhondda). I know we might lose some continuity but it keeps everyone interested and avoids the potenial issue for Darcy. Mind you while I agree Darcy is a terrific defender I still worry when he has the ball at his feet and time to think (thinking not being his strongest point). He gave away some easy balls for Wales on Saturday when he had time and thought he could spray long distances passes like a Welsh Glen Hoddle. Darcy's strength is mark it, win it and get rid of it, preferably to one of his own no more than 6 to 8 feet away.
Agree Blue / Rhondda. Win the ball, instantly pass to the nearest midfielder (preferrably wearing the same kit) and get back in position. McPhail, Whitts or even Kev at full back should be looking to give him an easy pass. Legg was very good at giving the centrebacks an easy out, always available.
Mcphail is more likely to be looking to pass back to Darcy. I would rather Darcy play in central midfield than McPhail.
you're being harsh hilts, mcphail keeps the ball and never panicks, i know he's not a box to box type but he definitely is an asset to the squad IMO
Can't agree with you there Hilts. The 4-5-1 system is made for Macca, pleanty of options to pass to. He ran the show against Barnsley with passes all over the place.
