I put it down to a risk averse attitude....

Odds are (with conventional wisdom) that a younger, less experienced and less physically developed player will make more errors or be more easily dominated than an older, more experienced and street wise pro.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Bulut does have a bit of a track record of bringing youngsters through though, so maybe, just maybe we'll see a little bit more of it going forwards, especially if the team is looking relatively comfortable as far as league position goes?
It's definitely easier for a less experienced player to step into a team playing well and with confidence/a rhythm than one struggling, lacking in confidence and with every chance of team mates pointing fingers and the crowd getting on their backs quickly when passes are misplaced or when getting caught out of position.

Of course, it's a catch-22, if you don't play them, how can they improve but can you risk playing them if the stakes are so high??
Is it asking too much to move the ball quickly up field and pass to one of our own players, some players can do this and others are lacking a football brain. Every player should go out to prove they can make an impact.

That is correct, the manager can play Isaac Davies and Mark Harris instead of Rhino and Sawyers as they are far better which should be the main criteria. Let us hope this manager plays the best players without favouring players just because they have experience.
It would have been interesting to have seen Davies & Harris playing in central midfield<laugh>

He can't play Mark Harris.
He isnt one of our players any more. We let him go because he wasn't good enough.

It was just for example, neither will be here this season, plus Isaak was injured for most of last season but even if both were fit Sawyers and Rhino would be plaed above them.

Mark Harris had more chances than a gambler on a fruit machine at Vegas. Nice lad, lots of effort but no better than Div. 1 - at best.

Hope he does well there.

We've had a few discussions about our academy. I see to recall that Colin did a root and branch overhaul of our system. I presume it will take time for the fruits of his labours to show? Or maybe we are seeing the first few green shoots at the moment and there is more to come?
Our country cousins have/had a top grade academy whereas I think ours is a grade lower? Surely this has an effect in making their system more attractive than ours....such that they get the better feeds?

Yes, I had forgotten that.

Also their style of football was more attractive to young, ambitious players.

Erol saying he wants 2 or 3 more signings, then trim things down as he feels the squad is bloated.

Sounds as if he wants to run a lean squad. 26 doesnt seem that many.
A match day squad is 18. Add in a suspension and a couple injuries and you've only got 5 spare.

Any fresh rumours on ins and outs other than Robbie's lad?

Still a while to go to the end of the window.

I’d like to see a bigger keeper, a back up CD and a more attacking midfielder.

Not really seen Adams to any degree but he might help the CM.

Anyone who joins now is unlikely to begin the season in the starting 11, so we'll need to think about what we've got for now.
Those wanted 3 are likely to make a big difference to how we go in the long term though.

Adams is combative but not creative. Its the Mcphail type we need.

McPhail was class at the time even though he only had a left peg which sometimes got him in trouble. He was too easily frustrated into giving away silly free kicks through tackling with the "wrong leg".

Whitts carried the torch on until supplimented for a short while by Kim Bo-Kyung, but he was really the last of the breed. We've struggled ever since in that position with only Camarasa briefly showing what we've lost. We desperately need some quality at No.10 - let's hope now Rambo has the shirt, we've found it.

Allsop is fine with me. Collins is needed and must get game time. It is on the other side the problem lies with Romeo ( no surprise.he gave away the penalty) AS fas as mid field and attack goes we have plenty of options This is not fantasy football where we all pick a team, Bulut has got the players so it is up to him to get the best on the pitch.

Last thing this side needs is a Steve Mcphail type in my opinion.

Someone like Jordan Mutch would be ideal.

Priority no 1 a GK 2 CB.

If we dont sign anyone I reckon Alnwick will start as no.1.

I'd agree that the balance in midfield hasn't been right for some time. Plenty of endeavour, no guile.
It'll be interesting to see how Bulut lines up.
Sometimes its as much the formation as the players.
Ramsey as a genuine 10, bringing wide players in, lends itself to a 4231, or will he play as an attacking option in the middle of a 433.

From reading a couple articles, a few players have commented on Bulut's attention to detail.

Hopefully, he knows what he's got, knows what he wants to do and can bring the two things together.

Fingers crossed he'll keep a similar game plan whether Ransey is playing or not rather than wholesale change. 46 league games and at least a couple cup games. Lets say 50 games.
If Ramsey makes 30 of those, we've got 20 without him. 15 at least.
He needs to get Colwill on top of his game to provide similar play (I won't say like for like as there's still a gulf between them) when Ramsey isn't playing.

Come on Erol, earn your corn.

Allsop is the number ! so that is the end of that.
