Blimey! If he was a player with another couple of good years taking 100 mill+ I’d say greedy bar steward, but a manager who could be out on his ear by Christmas that’s pretty tempting especially as there will teams wanting to bring them back to a top league.
£20m a season for Marco Silva. That's about what Guardiola gets. Is this Saudi league going to be sustainable? Because if that's what they'll pay Marco Silva, what would they pay the genuinely elite managers? If this continues, surely it will just drive higher salaries/salary demands in all other leagues?
It’s going to have to gain some kind of international audience to make any money and the market is already saturated. I don’t know who owns these Saudi clubs, but it feels like the Colombian league in the 90s, with rich drug dealers trying to outdo each other. It will die like the Chinese league and only serves to line the pockets of the big European teams(who just happen to be owned by middle eastern businesses)
As much as I liked a fit Ings and he was great in the best part of Ralph’s managerial stint he’s still injury prone and I bet his salary woul be too high
£30m is a good fee if he does go, so fair play to him, good move for all parties. I’ve heard the name Jacob Steinberg before, no idea if that means he is reliable or not
i think the club have misjudged the mood yet again if they sell livramento, especially for such a fee. He represents one of the few signs of hope in the current squad, and people were really looking forward to seeing him play again here next season
Equally, as a newly relegated club, we make a massive profit on a player who is coming back from a serious injury after 1 good season of senior football. We can't pretend we can just keep who we want, sell all the **** and be a financially viable business. I'd love Tino to stay but if he and KWP go and we start the season with Bree and a new signing at rb, it will be sort of what I expected. And I certainly wouldn't be arsey about Tino going to a champs league club. Loyalty is all well and good but if he has an average season in the championship or gets re-injured he may well never play champions league football and that will be the advice he is given. Ambition trumps loyalty in most cases.
