I went to that game, still one of the best atmosphere's I ever experienced at a match, it was a hell of an exciting game.
other clubs now feeling the effect. mitrovic throwing the toys out to get his move. palinha being blocked from getting a move. all these little clubs that are full of greed (have you seen the price of a match day ticket at fulham) are going to get a massive land for themselves when they are quoted 50 and 60mil for a replacement.
This is one reason why I have no sympathy for multi-millionaire footballers moving for even more money. The game has systematically been stolen from the people who made it and become nothing more than a cash cow for the already rich. Although players aren't the prime movers in this, and they deserve it more than anyone, the whole game is now out of reach for many ordinary folk.
On Fulham are we talking the whole ground or just the new Riverside stand which i know a few Fulham fans were thinking of shifting to until they saw the price of the seats in it
I keep saying it but I think I could be done Going to throw myself into grassroots and not bother with the pro game I think. I have to say I think because when the season comes along I may very well get carried away However - I feel it is getting more and more unlikely by the day
I don't know what it would take for me to turn my back on the pro game. It's been in my system since I was in junior school and that's a hard habit to break, even though I'm thoroughly disillusioned with the way money has taken it away from the people. To see the game wallowing in money whilst ordinary people struggle to survive - and then to see others justify it - just dismays me. I'd love to see it take a step backwards and all those who follow it because it's fashionable to sod off and find a new shiny thing. Apart from watching my local team I'm not really involved in the grass-roots game. I think I remember you saying you are, so perhaps it's the way to go for you.
exactly. absolutely on the head with this one. the ordinary person (I am not gone on this young male blah blah ****e) be they kids, women ,whatever race, colour or creed ought to be able to access something they enjoy. It is at this point an extremely expensive hobby for people of means. the away fans actually get massive subsidies in ticket prices and transport to keep them going! There will come a point where away fans will largely be a thing of the past and the grounds will be 90/95% rich folk spending more time at the bar than watching.
