There are some dodgy feeds (allegedly, I wouldn't use them myself obvs) where sometimes the sound goes out of sync. It just shows how fast things happen because even a two or three second delay completely destroys the experience.
I remember listening to a game on the car radio, can't recall which game but it was a significant European one. It was as intense a football experience as I can remember. We stopped at the traffic lights just as a goal was scored and as I was first pumping (I wasn't driving) I happened to glance at the car alongside where all the occupants of the car were doing the same. We exchanged suitable gestures and drove off. I agree, there is a different level of excitement that you get from hearing without watching.
I much rather radio, the games sound so much more exciting. But then I'll be honest, when they sold it to sky all we had was radio 5 for a long while. I could be harking back to listening to game on there. They are trained to explain where the ball is and whats going on rather than just prattling on about their pet gripes. They don't have time to.
For a long time when I first moved to US, could only listen to games on internet, didn't have the ability to watch them... Then they started blocking the over-internet radio feeds! But that's also about the time I was able to start watching them instead so worked out.
Liverpool confirms new major partnership as $323m improvement continues under FSG Liverpool has signed a new multi-year deal with Peloton as it seeks to enhance its commercial revenue further following a $323m income stream in its latest accounts. Liverpool confirms new major partnership as $323m improvement continues under FSG - Liverpool.com
From the article: The collaboration with Peloton adds another major brand to Liverpool's roster of corporate partners. The club aims to expand its commercial revenues further, building on the $323m (£247m/€288m) generated in commercial revenues in the 2021/22 season. It doesn't say Peloton are giving us $323m, it doesn't specify at all the size of the sponsorship deal. Peloton could be sponsoring us as little as $1million. In fact it's a rather curious article: With nearly six million subscribers worldwide, the company offers a range of fitness classes and workouts accessible from the comfort of your home. Then later in the same article: Peloton, with its passionate community of nearly seven million members, aligns with Liverpool's values and goals. Either Peloton signed 1 million new members between when the journalist started writing the article and finished writing the article, or Liverpool.com doesn't have the facts down.
peleton sell experienced to rich people along with extremely over priced machines. I'm sure we have no issue being pictured on pelteon training equipment for a few mil
One of the most enduring memories is of the St Etienne game which i listened to on a little Sony transistor radio .Think part pf it was that far more than on telly the incredible volume levels came thru on the radio to the extent you could barely hear the commentary . tbh possibly sticks in my mind more as i was pretty unhappy at the time and one of my few rays of light was LFC.
One of the things about the lockdowns was that while we were all going through an utterly miserable, spirit draining time, they even took our football away from us. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's vital to the mental health of lots of people and historically always has been. We're all having a love affair with Liverpool Football Club and like all love affairs, how invested in it you are, varies from person to person. It's why there's a broad spectrum of feelings when we sell players on. Some feel the loss more than others, some can carry straight on to the next one and some are actively seeking to get out of the relationship with certain players .... There are so many analogies you could make. At the end of the day, we all see things differently and that's a good thing but we are all also part of the common denominator and that's even better.
Agreed. Trouble is, when the club aren't playing well it makes mental health issues much much worse too
It's the difference between a reason for feeling miserable and feeling miserable for no apparent reason though. A run of wins cheers you up no end. Looking on the bright side, we're due a good season, better mental health all round
For me, it's not the result, it's about how we play. I can be more annoyed when we win and play **** then when we lose to a better side. Minimum requirement is effort. Last season was a nightmare
I hardly watched any games last season so the result was all I could react to. I agree with you about performance but when you don't watch it, it makes the result easier to take, either way. Actually not watching was good for my mental health
