When it come to Gooch and Luke, I think...if all our players were fully fit and on form, would either player be in the frame? I don't think so, but they are solid squad players for the Championship at best. Personally I would be inclined to move them on and make way for young hungry players as is our model right now

So you’ll trust them if they replace Gooch? Is that your point. 11 players plus 9 = 20 not 30

So you think we keep 30players and sign no one ? I’m not even sure I want Gooch to leave I’ve clearly said that so not sure why you’re on to me.s I think he’s class I’m just saying to bring players in and create opportunities for youth players some popular senior players will have to go. Which would you let go? None?

Gooch and 09, are both useful players, cos they can in play in various positions.

Although I think Gooch best position is WB

And I think 09's is probably DM

Both players offer us versatility and both would be suitable substitutes who will always try their best for the team adding experience to their versatility makes them ideal for the role of substitute .I can’t remember us having so much competition to be in the first eleven for a long long time so realistically we should use the loan system for OUR benefit to try and develop some of our fringe players .

Hypothetically speaking we might be at a wage ceiling, either self imposed or FFP imposed.

How would people feel if Gooch being sold allowed for Stewart to get offered a bit more money and enough to sign on? Coupled with allowing more game time for Zak Johnson?

I agree but who goes to make space for new? Personally I wouldn’t sign a centre mid just a striker but how do we play Embleton Pritchard Matete Rigg Bellingham etc it’s a tough call but we have too many

Johnson is a CB so couldnt cover the positions that gooch covers

Also we should only be offering stewart what we thinks he deserved and if he doesnt accept then he can go.

As i said id be keeping gooch as there are too many questions marks over huggins n alese's fitness

I agree that we need to trim the squad but gooch is one i would keep - unless we get a good offer for him

Was a bit tongue in cheek mate. I think we have outgrown Gooch in terms of getting many minutes but don't think he has lost his place on the bench yet. Suppose its down to Gooch and what he wants. I think he is a player we will let decide what he wants. He has gave a lot to this club, coming over here as a kid and we will look after him.

I'd agree they're both adaptable and willing, this season will be interesting for them if they both stay. Depending on who we sign I'd say Gooch would get more starts and O'Nien more sub appearances.

O'Nien is most likely frozen out of central defence and Ekwah, Neil and possibly Evans would take what's probably O'Nien's most likely position. Embleton looks to have been overtaken and I can't see him progressing now.

Gooch is more likely to play at wing back, or full back, imo but both will be more likely to be covering injuries/suspensions than claiming a place.

Still plenty of the window left so who knows what a squad we'll have.

I think we need a CM, only Neil is comfortable in that CDM role so need someone to compete with him

    Matete will be away
1 of embo or pritchard will be away i think - potentially even both

That leaves neil ekwah rigg belligham embo/pritchard as our CMs, so id say we are 1 short - evans out for ages so likely wont see him back fully fit until the new yr

Ba could play there but think he will be used to back up clarke or as a no10.

Gooch isn’t getting his contract renewed so Club is fairly confident by end of season that we will have adequate cover in place with sufficient experience. Also balances to achieve with wage bill and what can be done with any fee we receive. He’s been a fantastic loyal servant who gives his best. I’d be happy for him to stay but also wouldn’t stand in the way of progression.
