I was discussing a greatest ever NUFC XI with a friend earlier and we came across the conundrum of who we would give the No. 9 shirt to: Wor Jackie or Shearer.

Probably mainly down to my age, my heart says Big Al.

    Who would you opt for?

N.B. i went with these two up front and put Pedro on the wing as i just couldn't leave him out, blasphemy!

Shearer for me. The best player I've ever seen play. I am quite young though.

Some question but I'd have to go Shearer because I have seen him play.

(before secret ingriedient etc start, no I did not see Jackie Milburn play. Still miffed about the what not606ers look like thread!)

According to my Granda, Milburn wasn't a proper number 9 anyway so play him and Shearer up front together in an all time 11 with Pedro just behind them <ok>

Has to be Shearer but i'll throw in a few outsiders.

    Andy Cole 70 apps , 55 goals
    Sir Les 68 apps , 41 goals
    David kelly 70 apps , 35 goals
Micky Quinn 115 apps 59 goals (Actually scrap Quinn he was a chubber)

Shearer for me, top goalscorer ever.

Hughie Gallacher deserves a mention too, 160 games, 133 goals the best goals to games ratio of any NUFC player ever I believe.

A front three? But then you would have to leave out Pedro. Ooo dilemma's!

Just out of interest, if you can remember, what was your all time NUFC XI, Quendo?

Anyone else care to share as well, I would love to here from the older posters, especially the ancient Warm Pouch! <whistle>

    Pedro

    Milburn-Shearer-Gallacher

Just stick David Batty in behind them to break things up we'll be fine!

Bandwagon jumper!!! Karma will come back to bite. What was it you were saying about being worried about a name change? You may have just forced your worst nightmares into motion. If I was able to get out of this chair I'd head for the lakes to dish out some of my own karma. But my back hurts.......................
