Thick as Thieves, easily the best track on Setting Sons, for me at least, and certainly in any top 10 Jam songs!

    this runs it very close

and then again I have always though that Wasteland is a stunning song too and if you then think that side 1 also has Little Boy Soldiers then as a single side of an album that is probably as good as it gets.

I've loved this band for years. Cradock and Fowler are brilliant songwriters and musicians and massively underrated - although not by (it seems) every Spurs Not606 members fav musician Paul Weller <laugh>

Seen them a few times over the years and their energy was amazing, but there are some great acoustic performances out there and this one by Fowler is excellent.

Took my son, who was 19 on Sunday, to have his photo taken outside Salford Lads Club, on the journey back from Old Trafford, where a Martinez, no 6 shirt cost an eye watering £108 <yikes>
I played him and his sister a lot of music in the car on the way to school. They loved the Ramones (kids love simple, catchy songs), but he really identified with The Smiths. A band of my youth - so unique and so quintessentially English. These types of bands have stood the test of time because they were different, when it was still possible to be different. Everything’s been done now. All true rock n roll stars are 50+

I am sorry Luke but that's a very middle aged view, there are still plenty of great young musicians around making great music there are also successful younger people like Ed Sheeran, whose music does nothing for me but he is hugely successful and has a legion of fans young and old, and just because I don't like it I can still respect his talent. And he is not alone there are plenty of younger performers selling out stadia around the world.

Do I prefer music from the 60s to 80s yes of course I do, but there has been plenty of great music released in the 21st Century that I enjoy and I still look for new music today.

You may be right by dint of the fact that there is so much music produced.
But the vast majority of what is popular and in the public domain has little going for it.
And I suspect what good music exists is simply a rehash of what’s gone before.
I appreciate music is about personal taste, but, as with art, food, TV etc, you can still distinguish between good and bad, whether you personally like it or not. Too much depends on image these days.

I love finding a new artist old and new, recent finds that have made a dent in my bank balance , The Lathems, the Blossoms , Denison Wilmer, bill wells and Aiden moffat , getting back in touch with Can, Tangerine dream and Hawkwind but always looking out for local small venue live music
I tend to buy new to me artists on CD then if I like them enough convert that to vynyl (sad I know ) but a vynyl album has a warmth that CD can never replicate , anyway Im off to clean a John Martyn album that I picked up at a car bootie for £2.00

If you're on the look out for something new Alfie, can I suggest Wednesday, whose new LP Rat Saw God came out a few months ago and is a real cracker. Also Wednesday's guitarist Jake Lenderman has a great solo LP under the name MJ Lenderman called Boat Songs, released a couple of years ago which is well worth seeking out if you like Dinosaur Jr and/or Neil Young!
