Are you worried there'll be a dedicated gay bar for all the ****ta's that support our club ? Possibly change the club anthem to ' I will survive ' as well.
Maybe time for an assessment of Radz's time at the club ? 6 years and some massive ups and downs but leaves us with a sour taste in the mouth when it could have been done with a lot more class. That said at least he's sold us to the wealthiest owners we've had in our history. A very solid 8/10 then for Radrizanni from me.
don’t think it’s about whether the clubs ‘make a profit’ Risty. In this mad world of ours, it’s about the value of the business and to any investors their share value/growth opportunity. They expect/hope Leeds to become a big premier league club and a global brand… and their shares to Skye up accordingly. Fans complain about money grabbing investors and I understand that, but whilst there is always the risk of asset stripping from owners the reality here is they need us to be successful to make anything. And we don’t have much in the way of assets to strip. They’ll have been sold the sleeping giant story… the fan base and potential to develop in the states/worldwide. And mostly they’ll be reminded of the cap values of top premier league clubs
You mean the ‘niners inclusivity arena (identifying as the Frisco equal opportunity stadium)’ Football grounds have rights and feelings too
Positive aspect though, because yes they want profit, but maybe just maybe there is an element that sports people get emotionally invested in the competitive and onfield success aspect of the mighty whites too?
He helped clean up the Bates/Cellino mess and made us a viable investment. And he got us out of the champ.. and the stadium lease. So whatever his motives - which I’m sure were more dollar based than altruism, fans shouldn’t forget that. Flip side - being better than what went before doesn’t necessarily warrant gold medals. Lack of investment at key times cost us (whether that’s all on him is another matter, but the buck stops with him) The last year, interfering in the football side (as we believe happened) and the messy exit are all in the ‘cons’ ledger. 6.5/10
Two comments I always remember: 1. If you want to make a small fortune, start with a big one and buy a football club. 2. If you’re a billionaire with aspirations of becoming a millionaire buy a football club. Good luck to them
Actually think the 49ers might have got lucky with the relegation. Probably saved 300m on buying price and investing even a small amount of that could return us to being a 700m pl club
Understand the reservations about Radz ownership, however for the investment in bringing Marcelo to the club, and the ground purchase, despite what happened afterwards he gets an 8 from me. I think the football we got in the first 3 yrs of Marcelo’s management, was some of the best I’ve seen (including the Revie/Wilkinson and O’Leary years).
Harsh criticism this for me. Sixteen years outside the top flight, dodgy skint owners, rented ground. Had we stayed up it would be a complete 10/10. Unfortunately we didn’t and his trust in Orta was the reason for that (though he helped with the promotion) but we are much better placed than the last time we were relegated.
All about opinions LOL bur personally glad that regime is history and I don't intend to dwell very long on their memory. Last two seasons were atrocious in every conceivable manner
if he would have binned orta earlier for spunking his money on dross and given his own head a wobble it would be a 7.5.......but he stuck with him and i bet he regrets it so a 6.....now for better or worse it's got to be USA,USA,USA....
I’ve been critical of Orta in the past and everyone is an expert on his incompetence but there is an alternate side to the story. No doubt he has a checkered transfer ledger but Some at the club feel Orta held the place together while loose cannon radz created havoc.
As Milky pointed out, he had to clean the mess up from the previous owners and that can't be under estimated, that was a huge task. Then we look at what we became, we changed from a club every neutral hated to a club every neutral loved, but when you think about it, that was nothing to do with Radz, that was the impact of Bielsa. Without Radz the 49ers would have never got involved, as of today we think they are great but somewhere down the line the chances are we will all turn on them. I know under Radz we went back down but we are far stronger today than the day he first took over the reigns. I think 9/10 if he'd have handed over the reigns a season ago, holding on for another 12 months that took us down and the fiasco over the coaches last season, 6.5/10 I'm grateful to him for what he achieved overall, he was always going to be a stepping stone and he never bled us dry, he made errors, in my book making those errors are forgivable and a huge difference to what Bates and the others did
Yes there were huge positives. Not sure at the time if he was still running his sports media company. Over here sky, with no sport during covid, allowed subscriptions to be cancelled or paused by customers. Maybe rads was concerned about his core business finance and just couldn't risk spending at Leeds. Not exusing him because after that first season back we should have gone for it. I also suspect the spectre of Ridsdale history made leeds nervous about spending big again.
