So what we saying, all the theories we had about the Universe is wrong, and the big bang never happened....Hmmm don't think we got a clue.

We don't mate, they just make stuff up to sound clever.

First there was a void then two particals collided and made a big bang which created the universe which rapidly expanded and is still doing so 14billion years later (26billion now).

Well to have a void you need something around it by the very description.
If it was a void where did the two particals come from?

What is the universe expanding into?

I thought it had been around for longer tbh so hearing 13bn/26bn is less than I imagined.

Considering we're supposed to get swallowed up by an expanding sun in 5bn years it doesn't seem as soon now. I can relax.

I've often questioned the big bang theory myself, I think it just raised he obvious questions that you mentioned in a nutshell. I think it's all bigger than our minds could ever comprehend. I've certainly never been a ufo fantasist, it just don't appease my curiosity, I'd be more interested in a multi universe theory, one that can't be crossed, one that don't involve ufo's and the human imagination of 'aliens.' However, the downside to that is everything revolving around the human race, so to me that would be a massive negative, but that could just be within the bubble that we could ever conceive, the energy of the mind and the various role plays of fate. It don't mean things can't happen outside that bubble that we can never ever interject. I'm not convinced by any religious route, because I just see religion as many variants of rule books to control human behaviour, if there is something greater, it's greater than any religion we currently perceive on this planet, whether it's for the greater good, well it depends what this is all about. In short, none of us have a clue.

I watched a video on Einstein the other night, it said how he was consttantly dismissed as a student, and how people wouldn't listen to him, don't know if it was true or just a version of events someone made up. It was fascinating to think the one guy that gave us a lot of todays theories was virtually dismissed as a fruitcake. I find that quietly amusing.

The 13/14 billion years is the age of our Galaxy, there are other galaxies we can see that appear to be older or younger than ours

The other galaxies all appear to be moving towards or away from each other, it is predicted use will merge into the Andromeda galaxy at some time in the distant future, not while the Earth still exists

So we just doubled the age of the universe...

Picture this: our universe is not the spry 13.7 billion-year-old entity that we once believed it to be. Instead, it could be a grand 26.7 billion years old.

https://www.earth.com/news/new-stud...on-years-old-double-the-current-age-estimate/

According to the study’s author, Rajendra Gupta, a physics professor at the University of Ottawa, their newly-devised model indicates that the universe is 26.7 billion years old, significantly older than the previous estimate of 13.7 billion years.

It’s all conjecture……myself I couldn’t give a fk what’s out there….my biggest concern is the powers that be who impact our lives on a daily basis

If we could comprehend an entity that is capable of creating the universe on a whim then that entity would not be worth our time or effort.

We should just get on with it like every other animal does……….but gods do work in mysterious ways…they need money and lots of it <laugh>

I agree, too much effort is put into the details. A simple place of worship for those who wish you attend would suffice imo. Like everything today there's some **** trying to make money out of it.

So the universe has been around 26 billion years, and we've been keeping 'some' temperature records for the last 150 years and on the back of the latter, the media want to constantly remind us our globe is warming.
